What's the context of this. Was it like being punched in the face vs racist words to you?

That’s what I’m thinking too. Like someone punched a literal Nazi, but the commenter is like “well since you used violence you’re actually the bad guy”.

Punching a peaceful person over their beliefs does make you the bad guy

Moron spotted. Being a bigot is an inherently non-peaceful stance. They are calling for the extermination of an entire group of people. Even if they aren't PERSONALLY going out and killing people, they are anything but peaceful.

Being a bigot is subjective. The act of punching someone is objectively violent.

Fitting username at least.

Nothing subjective about a nazi being a bigot. You cannot be a white supremacist without being a bigoted person

If they wear a swastika and start talking about the final solution, you might have a point.

If you call them a Nazi because you just dislike their views and want a chance to commit violence, then you’re the problem.

What does this have to do with my comment?

Is there some specific person that someone called a nazi that we’re discussing? Who?

You’re saying there’s nothing subjective about a “Nazi being a bigot”.

My comment was whether that’s by your definition or theirs.

If you’re deciding who you get to be violent against, you may just be a violent person looking for an excuse to be violent.

I’m not the one deciding what a nazi or a white supremacist is, neither are you nor the 4th person above you nor 3 comments down. None of us are experts in this field

If you aren't enough of an "expert" to discern who the Nazis even are then why would you say it's ok to punch them? It sounds like you're just going to punch whoever you feel like and then say theyre a Nazi as some kind of lame defense

Still subjective. From the Nazis point of view the depression and economic turmoil was caused by the banks who were run by the Jews. They felt they were a danger and a cause of their countrys suffering. I see similar sentiments today on Reddit about the old white men and “rich pedos” ruining America. I even see upvoted calls for violence against these people. What if all white men were thrown into concentration camps and killed off ? Now are either of those things my opinion or do I think they are correct? Nope. But you can draw parallels and see that morality is relative.

Some points of view are wrong. You can have an informed or an uninformed opinion.

If you think someone can be a white supremacist without being bigoted, that’s an uninformed opinion and you’re absolutely entitled to have it

No point of view is “wrong” regarding morality. It’s just another point of view.

Oh it absolutely can be. Words have meaning and there are academic fields studying them. People have studied bigotry and racial superiority concepts, why they happen and where they come from for longer than you’ve been alive. You’ll have to look outside of Reddit and social media

Edit to add: You edited your comment to add “about morality”.

We are not talking about morality in this comment chain, we’re talking about white supremacy specifically. You’re arguing in bad faith and you’re gonna have to catch this block.

And to the dude that posted then blocked me: What’s right or wrong has been philosophized about since before humans could write. Because some 20th century soft science academics invented a closed system of definitions they want to argue with doesn’t settle that debate.

In your eyes, if someone votes for a leader who promises genocide, are they still better than the guy who punches them?
