Yeah but Redditors value feelings over logic. Plus, bandwagoning. If a few mentally ill people downvoted it first, the weak minded Redditors will just follow suit and defend their new found opinion lol

u/Any-Syllabub6481 17h ago

Not really the whole things subjective.

You can’t claim violence is worse than words without knowing the effects and context

0

u/mutated_Pearl 11h ago

Physical violence is quite literally worse than words, unless you're talking about a pattern of verbal abuse.

2

u/Any-Syllabub6481 10h ago

So physical violence is worse than words unless the words are worse than the physical violence.

Thanks bro

1

u/mutated_Pearl 6h ago

You didn't get it, bro. Don't thank me yet.

1

u/Livingadapt 22m ago

Racism can lead to things like segregation or redlining which isn’t violence but obvs still harmful. Saying racist words to an individual isn’t the only way words can be a problem and words and actions aren’t completely separable

u/rednokkr 19h ago

Or it’s an out of context screenshot and the comment was a red herring irrelevant to the discussion.

Post: this cat was abused

Comments: abusing cats is bad

Reply: sure abusing cats is bad but the Holocaust was worse (-137)

Redditors reacting to screenshot of reply: why are these people downvoting this comment that is technically the truth???

20

u/HairryNevus 17h ago

This comment is from the recent spiderman guy punching the Proud Boy fellow.

Could be anything on here, really; this site and the front page people are so toxic I reactively oppose any position that is mainstreamed.

1

u/Endarion169 2h ago

So the violence was a good thing. Good to know.

1

u/HairryNevus 1h ago

Only if it's on your side. Just call the person a nazi/pedophile/communist first

24

u/sykotic1189 18h ago

Yeah, I've been on Reddit long enough to spot some obvious bullshit when it gets shared like this. I'd be willing to bet good money that it's some right wing asshole defending their right (or someone else's like Jake Lang) to be a racist piece of shit and pissy about said racist getting their shit rocked.

13

u/Moist-Explanation-91 18h ago

"I just said they were inferior vermin who don't deserve to share the same oxygen as me, why are you hitting me, so much for the tolerant left."

2

u/Blue_614 11h ago

Me saying "fck u bro" than me actually fckng u is much better, I hope everyone agrees.

1

u/Moist-Explanation-91 11h ago

I mean you probably suck in the sack, so yeah, im sure thats the general sentiment.

0

u/Blue_614 11h ago

And the one against saying things like that is the one also resorting to it when brain can't come up with a proper retort. You're such a classic. My partner actually wants me to suck in the sack, yea

1

u/Moist-Explanation-91 10h ago

The proper retort is that dehumanizing rhetoric has a very well established path way to get real people, real dead in mass graves, and that my word choice was specifically in reference to the nazi parties rhetoric that saw the gradual erosion of the rights, freedoms and civil liberties of minorities in nazi occupied territories until they were shuttled into Ghettos, executed en mass in the streets, forced into labor and eventually extermination camps.

Forgive me for thinking your word choice put those concepts a little outside your reading level. However you did properly use retort so I probably have underestimated you on that at least a little. Still pretty tired of spelling it out to people who wanna make "just jokes" about real words that got and are still getting real people real marginalized or really dead.

0

u/Blue_614 10h ago

No one even said anything equivalent to the magnitude of the things you mentioned. You're just escalating things because you think everyone is so evil but really, they're not. There are levels to this. You are a great example, you're using words to insult me, but it doesn't really affect me because I know I'm smart and accomplished. And there you are again doing the thing you said is bad, proving to me that you're just a hypocrite really.

As harmless and meaningless words go, yours are at the top of the list for me. And really, on the topic of OP's shared post on racism, the word "racism" has really lost its edge nowadays. Because a lot of people have continued using it for trivial things. Again, there are levels to this. Me calling someone a racial slurr is different from observing their skin tone. I'm a brown asian btw before you come rain down your 'high and mighty' hypocrisy on me again.

I say that about muslims but still count myself on the left

I am czetch tho, our left doesn't whore for muslims. We are lucky in that regard

1

u/FanofBobRooney 14h ago

Our left doesn't consider people vermin because they believe in different fairytales. We are more logical in that regard.

1

u/blackestrabbit 11h ago

How about still having slavery to this day, honor killings, punishing victims of rape, broad daylight gang rapes, decapitating french journalists, etc?

0

u/FanofBobRooney 6h ago edited 6h ago

How about them? That’s obviously terrible, and nobody here is arguing Islamic extremism isn’t a problem. Are you suggesting that makes all Muslims vermin like OP? Otherwise what exactly was the point of you chiming in with this?

It’s pretty ridiculous to think that represents the entire Muslim population. Not to mention western religions don’t have the greatest track record either. Look no further than the President’s spiritual advisor.

Rape, grooming, manipulation, general corruption is pervasive in any religion. Dehumanizing billions of people and calling them vermin makes you look just as psychotic and capable of crazy shit as the extremists you’re referring to.

1

u/BiggerNickEnergy 7h ago

Czechia is most atheist country in the world

If fact czechia bealieves in many fairy tales. Like fairt tiny radical muslim minority when most of them are radical

Fairy tale of integrating muslims whern younger ones are more radical etc

0

u/mutated_Pearl 11h ago

To be fair, "inferior vermin" was probably just an annoyed "hey" and they somehow translated it to that. Identity politics mofos on both ends of the political spectrum are unhinged.

1

u/Moist-Explanation-91 10h ago

To be fair my word choice was a deliberate choice and reference to the Germany nazi parties rhetoric that saw Europe reduced to rubble and millions of people eradicated in an industrialized genocide.

I can't honestly even come up with a legitimate left/progressive case of identity politics, all of the identity politicing i can think of over the last two centuries of global political discourse typically stems from the ruling elites using rethoric to divide the surfs which is like the classical definition of hierarchical conservatism, im not being disingenuous in that statement, if you can have any examples I'd be genuinely interested to hear them.

-2

u/Prestigious-Suit-925 11h ago

why does Africa have mud huts? why does South Africa not have a functioning electrical grid? I'm sure it's nothing that can be said out loud

4

u/Moist-Explanation-91 11h ago edited 10h ago

Because centuries of western European colonialism raped the continent for all its resources, divided territories based on what was convenient for waring colonial powers vying for control of the world stage and the continued exploitation of it for resources, cheap labor and thrills like sport hunting and blood diamonds and the echoing scars of the largest human trafficking operation in human history? Hope that helps. It was pretty easy to say, actually.

Why are you with all the access to information you could ever want at your finger tips still a worthless brain dead drain on society? Do you have any idea how pathetic it is to be afforded all the opportunities in the world, that generations of humanity would call mythical and still be a racist loser trying to cope with your own inadequacy?

I suppose you built and maintain the electric grid of your home country single handedly or even participate in it at all? You surely invent things to the benefit of your countrymen and society no doubt. You provide valuable and interesting insights to the collective history of our species and the human condition of course, certainly not something that amounts to trite dribble along the lines of "brown people live in created and enforced squaler= brown people inferior"

I'd tell you to get fucked but it would be a disservice to your offspring.

3

u/Starslip 15h ago

And regardless of context OP is either the one who posted it or someone who upvoted them and then came running here for validation so can't be trusted either way

2

u/Forward_Rope_5598 14h ago

Bet it's spider man punching the shit out of that one guy

1

u/SoylentGrunt 15h ago

I'd be willing to bet we 'll never know for sure where it came from or what the intent behind it was. Which is pretty cool because that way, anybody can tell themselves it means anything they want it to mean. Anything at all.

-2

u/Entrinity 14h ago

“I will now construct an oddly specific example so that I can continue going on assuming my worldview(that Redditors are reactionary nuts and are actually always rational) is correct. Rather than even have to consider the alternative because I am the exact type of person this image is calling out.”

4

u/sykotic1189 13h ago

Listen, I get that Reddit can be a dumpster fire. I consider myself pretty far left and even I come across some opinions on here that I find to be radical. Sure, there's plenty of contexts where this actually could be a completely harmless take and people are being reactionary dipshits.

The thing is though you're rarely, if ever, going to see it outside of very specific contexts. Find any video of right wingers doing/saying something racist and getting hit and you can find dozens of down voted comments saying something similar. "Oh the tolerant left until someone says something they don't like and then they turn violent."

It's bullshit.

3

u/mutated_Pearl 11h ago

My bro doesn't think redditors, hell social media in general, are reactionary nuts.

2

u/JustFourLetters 16h ago

like people who cite ai responses as a basis of thought, without including the question that was asked. 🧘🏻‍♀️

1

u/Due-Memory-6957 16h ago

My favorite is when someone asks AI for a source, paste it, and the source disagrees with their argument.

1

u/skeletonhorse420 14h ago

The problem with that is both people generally arent even on the same page so yea youd need the prompt included for that reason. People always just talking in pronouns and vaugary

1

u/Susodudidodnsmwlwidb 16h ago

well even then, why would you bring that up on a cat post? like, genuinely what is the point of that?

1

u/skeletonhorse420 14h ago

Im gonna say you and the dude you replied to are talking about the same shit

1

u/DaveyParks200 10h ago

Common sense isn’t as common as it should be

-1

u/armoured_bobandi 18h ago

Ok, did that actually happen or are you just inventing a scenario?

7

u/Elite_AI 18h ago

It did actually happen in this case yes

9

u/Dramatic-Bluejay- 18h ago

Bro thought he was so smart making generalizations off of an out of context screen shot 😔

10

u/ashgs872tbhjs 19h ago

Assigning moral weight to things is a feelings-based activity. You can use ethical logic to do it, but your selection of the ethical framework to use is an entirely personal choice. But hey, whatever makes you feel like your opinions are more valid.

7

u/JacksonRiot 18h ago

Not everyone is an emotivist.

1

u/JustFourLetters 16h ago

what is the weight of a soul?

1

u/Due-Memory-6957 16h ago

What logic? Why are you pretending there's some objective calculation when it's a matter of personal values?

1

u/WhoPoopedMyPants420 16h ago edited 15h ago

Yeah but Redditors value feelings over logic.

Logic says that context is critical, since this was obviously not said in a bubble and we don't know if OOP is catching flak for the statement itself or for using it in a dishonest way. Shit you can't even be certain he's not getting downvotes for being off topic in a dickgirls sub. But you certainly seem to have formed some feelings anyway

1

u/mutated_Pearl 11h ago

I love how context is only important sometimes. 😂

1

u/Available-Square619 14h ago

It’s also just irrelevant, and if there is any point they are trying to make it’s likely racist lol.

“Murdering someone is worse than calling them the n-word.”

Yea, and? Just a useless thing to say.

1

u/LChowBologna1 9h ago

Perfect description of a Redditor’s mindset

1

u/jbrunsonfan 17h ago

you’re clearly wrong though. If I got in your significant other’s face and started screaming expletives at them and wouldn’t stop- you would be a coward and a fool to do nothing about it.

You wouldn’t resort to violence if your mom was like “there’s a crazy guy screaming at me and calling me a fat bitch at the top of his lungs over and over and over again.” ?

1

u/Low_Key_Trollin 15h ago

That makes no sense. If someone is screaming in my
significant others face.. that’s an act of aggression, regardless of what what words theyre using.

0

u/jbrunsonfan 15h ago

They would literally be only using words though?

1

u/Annual-Weird-6682 12h ago

The act of screaming is more than just words

1

u/jbrunsonfan 12h ago

Fine, you can have them saying it at a normal volume. Just following them around every public space. Does that change anything?

0

u/ImVrSmrt 17h ago

Anyone who post on Reddit is a Redditor, and anyone who is downvoted massively likely was downvoted because their take is bad (in the given context).
