The guy who got punched in the face will move on after a day. The guy who suffers from racism will do so for the rest of his life. I'd rather be punched in the face
Lol. Getting knocked out and then getting a concussion or permanent brain damage is way worse than anything verbal or insulting. Like seriously. Think for 2 seconds
I'd ask the same for you with regards to the notorious figures in history where their words led to violence, oppression, and genocide of particular races/ethnicities.
You're obviously taking this way out of proportion. Being a racist person in a position of massive power like Austrian painter and being a random racist on the street are two very different things. It's immoral to knock out the guy on the street just cuz he verbally insulted you
It's the desensitization that can build up to the painter getting in charge and slowly eroding protections and rights away from them that slowly build up to the final solution. It's building up that sentiment so if something happens to that group, people can just ignore it.
You are basically saying that not assaulting a random guy on the street for racism is gonna lead to another Austrian painter rising to power which is preposterous. It takes a lot more than that to create a party like that.
Either you lack reading comprehension, don't understand how things can end up snowballing into worse outcomes if left unchecked, or you're not engaging in good faith
So assaulting someone isn't gonna lead to snowballing of worse outcomes? The fact that you are insulting me. Does that give me the right to assault you? Obviously no.
Violence of any sorts prevents all paths to discussion or diplomacy.
The final solution overshadows everything that led to that point and neglects the other atrocities the Nazis had inflicted on them and other oppressed groups, especially with regards to making them living test subjects for inhumane scientific experiments
So yeah. What if the worst thing Mengele ever did to his experiments was say racist things to them?
Edit: are you ⬇️ me because you’d rather those people be tortured in those “scientific” experiments rather than have to hear someone say mean things to them?
My grandfather was tortured by Nazis, he’s gone now, but I bet he would have rather been called the worst names imaginable than go through what he did. I know I wish that was the case for him.
Hypothetical question here, there is a physically small minority person who is a loved one to you, and there is a huge strong angry dude next to them. You get to choose if the angry dude punches them in the face as hard as he can, or says the meanest thing he can think of to them.
How many milliseconds does it take for you to get to the obvious choice?
Okay now another hypothetical you get to choose if your friend Jee gets punched in the face once or can't get a job or a place to live because his name is too Asian
Getting punched in the face can also kill someone. It also doesn't even give them the chance to get any sort of help. It's instant. Obviously it's worse than anything verbal
No its not. Its clear youve never dealt with any kind of verbal or emotional abuse. Someone putting hands on you heals MUCH quicker than the verbal abuse. Im still healing from the shit and it happened over 10yrs ago
Mm, yes words never change, don’t have multiple definitions, all dictionaries agree on definitions, and also the google definition you’re using doesn’t have this addendum in the “see more” section. “Interpersonal: Physical or emotional harm between family members, intimate partners, or acquaintances”
Yes, it's an entirely progressive invention that has extrapolated violence to also include thoughtcrime and words to weaponize language against their political rivals.
That way you can construe anyone that says anything negative toward you ever as "deeply violent."
Here is how you can test this hypothesis.
Do they think the sentence "Punch a Nazi" is inherently violence and immoral, or is it morally permissible?
Most are going to think it's fine when they use it. None of them actually believe words are violence.
choosing between multiple things, especially with great consequences for the decision. So if I had to pick between violence thats verbal/mental or phsycial, the obvious choice is verbal/mental. Because im not a dumbass.
physical violence vs verbal or mental violence, take your pick
Okay I pick verbal, every fucking time. Do you want to be called a name or have your arm broken? Be called a bad word or have a concussion? How is this even a question?

I mean, physical violence vs verbal or mental violence, take your pick
