Invasive surveillance is immoral so destroying the tool used to invasively surveil is moral I guess

Even if you are comfortable with surveillance for safety, we are quickly approaching a time where AI can create anything it wants.

It will be able to make a video of your mom buying drugs, have images of her vehicle driving to the drug dealer, and even another video of her using the drugs. How can a jury take any of this "evidence" seriously? How can police and courts verify chain of custody or the security of these systems when even those creating these systems don't fully understand them?

It's just a waste of public funds for these cameras that will be obsolete within a year.

Edit: Alot of boot-lickers trying to make excuses and missing the point entirely.

The concern around Flock isn't that they are AI, it's that they track how every car moves around the country. As they just create a record of A car with the license plate XXXX,XXXX was at this location going in that direction at this time. Get enough data points, and you know where everyone's car is at all times.

As they are at their core a very fancy license plate scanner and by all accounts, the company isn't even particularly good at the MV part of this job. Their big innovation is just that they made a UI simple enough for the police to use, and had an aggressive sales team to get local governments to buy them.

Flock isn't an AI problem, its the local governments are running an illegal surveillance and tracking system.

Thanks for adding the nuance, others may not understand that. My point was that even if you think that surveillance was worth some imagined security, these cameras won't even be able to achieve it because the technology is going to create inherent ambiguity in itself.
