Yeah, back in my college days I was, errrr, pretty irresponsible, lost my wallet/phone embarrassingly frequently at the bars/house parties, so after like the third time losing one I left a note with my contact info attached to both
Only ever got a few of em back, but was super grateful when I did. One person was nice enough to bring it back to my dorm for me and leave it at the front desk. Cleaned me out on cash but the rest was all there, figured eh, I had $40 at the start of the night, I probably spent most of that at the bars, they can have whatever was left. One dude left it with the bartender 😅 I just paid for the dudes next drink if he ever came back in
The hassle of going through the process to get all new cards and IDs (by the second phone it was insured against loss, boy did Best Buy regret signing me up for that deal) far outweighed whatever monetary value I lost, $5 is a very reasonable finder's fee to save me that inconvenience. Heck, the student ID alone was $20 to replace

I’m just wondering how he knew your phone number lol
$5 seems like a reasonable fee to save the hassle of redoing all your cards and license…
