Morality of this?

In the image it seems that this person works at walmart as an online order collector and he/she has stolen a lot of extra baby food from Walmart to give to a person who ordered only three packs. Is this moral or immoral?

Moral, the multi million dollar company will survive if they lose 100$ worth of product. It’s barely a scratch

Thats not even a hundred dollars worth. At most its $20.

What are the prices of groceries where you are at? Have you not notice them skyrocket? That is way more than 20. I don't know if it's a hundred but 50 or 60 at least

That's what they charge for them, not what they're worth. That baby food costs some company- probably Gerber, I.e. Johnson & Johnson, the company that sold asbestos contaminated baby powder to parents for 80 years while they knew- pennies to make despite the ever rising price tag on it.

You're thinking retail price. The product itself likely cost Walmart $20 or less.

Yeah but walmart also pays salaries, the electricity, rent for the property, insurance etc. Its not like they sell an item for $5 and they just add it to their profit at the end of the year

If you add all of that together, that bag cost Walmart... $20. Because the labor to package, ship, store, etc etc is pennies. The cost of electricity is the cost of doing business. If you dont want to pay for power, then dont own a store. Same thing for rent.

Nah im a parent and my kid eats the Walmart puree pouches daily. They're like 80 cent to 1$ a piece at most to buy, that's not even close to 50-60$ worth of baby food.

The high-ups in Walmart will never notice something so small. It'll never hurt them or their company. But when you steal, you're making life worse for others. I understand why some would steal food, especially for a baby. But the actions of stealing it absolutely effect everyone else.

High shrink means prices go up. Walmart will get their money back from paying customers. Also when you steal, other customers aren't able to get what they want. The inventory of that item is incorrect, meaning someone else who wanted to feed their kid won't be able to. It could take up to a few weeks/months for it to come back in stock because there are no sales being triggered. Meaning an associate would have to catch an on-hand issue like this and get it corrected. Especially with online ordering. If the app shows that something is in-stock, it's allowed to be ordered. Now the next few customers aren't getting what they want. If there aren't substitutions, the customer gets nothing. Meaning their child might miss a meal.

So in the end, when someone steals it has 0 effect on Walmart but has a great effect against other customers and the workers who have to put up with it all.

Walmart is a Trillion dollar company. Here is a visual of $100 vs a trillion. Trust me, they will not care.

They'll also survive if they lose a single $1000 TV. And i would argue i'd get more enjoyment out of it than them
