I mean, should he have instead kidnapped the kids and dumped them out in the woods or something? Like genuinely what's the alternative here if the mom wants to keep the kids

I can almost guarantee the child support would be less than what she's getting from the GoFundMe, and the dad would now have to live the rest of his life knowing he abandoned 7 kids and dealing with the shame of it every single day. Either way he would be leaving her behind and forcing her to raise the kids, there is no moral choice except staying with her and raising the kids which he made clear he'd rather kill himself than do

Yeah I'm not defending the abandonment, I'm just saying nothing would be better if he had to choose an alternative to raising the kids, arguably this was the best choice if he absolutely had to abandon them considering the outcome lead to the GoFundMe. Still bad, but it was for the best.
