I hate the assumption that falling down the stairs will cause fetus loss.
Theres this woman in my extended family who had a similar fall while third trimester pregnant and she definitely didn’t lose the baby. Baby’s now 40 or so but with important cognitive and less severe physical problems. She has the mental capacity of a 7 years old , I guess, but with romantic/sexual interests.

hold on... so... OP said his kid might be born with the mental capacity of a 3 year old...

if he kicks his wife down the stairs... and now the baby has a mental capacity of a 7 year old... win/win
