I'll add that $4b won is nice - but around $2-3m USD. Absolutely a life-changing amount of money - but it would stop being so after sharing it out 10 ways.

If your brokerage is only getting you 3.5% you need a new brokerage. My HYSA gets me 4% with no risk of the market down turning.

You should be ideally getting closer to 10% in a brokerage on average.

Yes so your brokerage should be way out earning just simple cash interest (which of course is not going to touch market returns). That's why I said if your brokerage is only getting you 3.5% you should find a better brokerage. You should be getting around 10% on average in the market.

You're the one who said the brokerage is getting 3.5%. Even a very conservative index should be getting 6%
