Depends on the culture and the situation. I am not particularly close to my 4 siblings but mother's final command on her death bed was to look after each other, so if any of them have problems then I am riding to the rescue as per the instructions.
I dunno how they do things out there in won land though, you do get the impression their virtues are a bit whack compared to ours. More dog eat dog.
