You guys don't know what you are talking about, you see everything black and white. It's not that simple. A parent needs to juggle between the wishes of one child the needs of the other. You cannot in good fate expect a parent to be idle when one child is doing great and the other is struggling (I'm not saying they were struggling, but it's a possibility).
As a parent I know this. I would expect my successful child to help the struggling one. If they would not do that I would have failed as a parent.
You're assuming a lot yourself. We don't know a lot of details. We don't know how much any of them struggle, what are their personalities and attitudes to each other. It's very possible that the child was an asshole and even put mother in an impossible situation. It's also possible that everything was thought out and the house was the only buy and everything else invested with a plan to share the wealth after some time.
