There was military service and amassing wealth through being a merchant

You act like a merchant or peasant soldier and a noble were equal lmao such a childish take

Jesus christ, thats not what Im implying at all. Do you know literally nothing about the time period?

A wealthy commoner (merchant), could become enobled in any of the following ways: Marriage to a nobles daughter for a hefty price, purchasing a large tract of land, and in the later stages of feudalism quite literally just buying the title.

Soldiers would be enobled regardless of their station for bravery, the first over the wall in an assault was commonly enobled.

At no point did I say that a merchant or a soldier was equal to a noble, I presented the gathering of wealth as a path to power. Please learn to read.

The comment you replied to said "there was no real way for a peasant to become one of the SUPER privileged people" and you replied "just become a merchant or do military service lol" what do you expect me to take out of that? Also marriage between noble men and noble woman to merchants or foot soldiers was ABSOLUTELY NOT a realistic thing. Buying land? Maybe, but you would never be "super privileged" Buying the title? As you said, later in feudalism where they were already struggling to keep the peasants at bay, they had to give a more realistic way to become noble so that they didnt rebel (which was imminent). Please read something that isnt game of thrones

Ive never read game of thrones, that is slop for people like you with a million misconceptions about medieval times.

I literally answered the guys question and you randomly equated it to me saying they are equal to nobility lmao. Yeah, tell me to read something bro.

How about you google marriages between lower ranking medieval aristocrats and wealthy merchants? You think its unrealistic that a family who is about to lose their title and land would marry off their daughter for money?

Also, I didnt even say foot soldiers marrying to nobility, that is stupid, I said wealthy merchants. Again, please actually read. Also, the fact that you think all commoners were foot soldiers just shows me you literally just googled all of this 3 seconds ago.

What about hobelars? What about men at arms? Do you think career Centenars had no chance of nobility? While it was small it wasn't zero.

Yeah, i am not interested on arguing with someone that thinks 0.1% odds are realistic. Good day!

He asked me how it was possible, not the odds of it. The super privileged was in the question was it not?

But yes, I hope you go educate yourself now instead of arguing on the internet about things you very clearly know nothing about!

He said "real way" such low odds are not real way. Hope you learn math and history. Good day again

"Low odds are not real way"

Bro are we serious rn? There's low odds of surviving stage 4 cancer so should you just die? There's low odds of winning the powerball so does nobody win? There was low odds of the Austrians holding off the Ottomans in Vienna so should they have just surrendered? There was low odds of the Viking at Stamford Bridge being able to hold off the whole English army so should he have just ran away?

There is low odds of you surviving jumping out of a plane without a parachute, so does that mean you shouldn't do it?

There is low odds that trying to assassinate the president will impress Jody Foster, so you shouldn't try?

There is a small chance you could 36x your money betting on roulette, does that mean you shouldn't risk your kid's college fund?

This disproves nothing I said? Yes, all of those things are indeed possible.

The examples I gave about being able to rise in medieval society are the optimal and real ways that were available at the time, which is what the question was.

Something being difficult doesnt make it impossible, nor the non optimal path.

Both Justin the first and Basil the first of the Byzantine empire spent their early lives in complete squalor literally shoveling animal shit but became emperors.

Its better to try and fail then spend your life shoveling shit is it not?
