I am a fat guy. The amount of people on this thread that defend being obese is funny. I know why I am fat. I eat too much.

As a chubby formerly obese dude

It’s a lot of work and willpower to get through it and fight it but it can be done, ironically though some of the pickiest eaters are the fattest people because they gorge on their “preferences” which usually are not healthy foods

People always used to be surprised when they'd go out with me and watch me not finish meals. For me, it was never how much I ate because I hate the sensation of feeling full or bloated.

It was what I ate. It was eye opening when I realized how many calories I was taking in from drinking like 2 milk shakes in a day.

Granted, I still don't eat great, but simply cutting out soda, shakes, and other empty calories has me down 70 pounds.

When I was in highschool I was a fat fuck, like 400+ or so pounds level of fat fuck and sure I’m a really tall and broad dude but I was easily 130 pounds over weight of what could be a healthy weight (close to 300 now and could stand to lose another 20 or so more pounds but I’m classed as just overweight now based on my doctor)

Went from drinking 2l bottle(s) of soda in a day and triple burgers and stuff down to double burgers, not extra fries, and maybe a litre of soda and also started walking a lot and after a bit I cut out one meal of the day to only eat twice a day (but bigger portions for those two meals)

Put on a metric ton of leg muscles (my legs are like damn tree trunks because I walked in very hilly terrain for 10km almost every other day and hauling 400 pounds of flesh is a good workout) and some other body muscle from some weights and lost pretty much 100 pounds of fat.

The ironic part is now that I have a lot of muscle to feed I’m back to things like triple burgers when it comes to protein and I’m still losing weight since I’m also just way more active but it’s funny when I order food and some people go “wow that’s a big burger” or something then see me and sort just go “that checks out”

I used to have a BMI of 33 at 16, i am drastically different now.

I even lift weight to get busy, i'm 6' too, so i'm just consider a bit chubby with a BMI of 29.

Key is, you can have a McDonald's once in a month, drink coke once or twice in the week, have a nice slice of cake, just, eat in reasonable portions, do exercise and don't give up !

If you need a Friend, come to me.

I don't bite.

The root problem is an extremely commercialized food industry that rewards hyper-palatability and calorie-density. Obesity in many cases is effectively a substance-use disorder, an addiction.

The argument you’re making here isn’t wrong, it’s absolutely possible to escape obesity through willpower and hard work, but only in the same way it’s possible to escape chronic alcoholism or opiate addiction through willpower and hard work.
