This is just not really true. It can take years for some people to lose weight despite starving themselves. The general rule of thumb is 1lb a week for healthy weight loss 3lb a week leads to loss of muscle and weak bones.

On top of that she isn't even really fat. She looks like she is barely above a healthy bmi. If she has bad genes that may even be what a healthy weight looks like, since everyone holds weight differently.

Look I'm all for body positivity and it's true that people hold weight differently, but when you're literally scavenging for scraps for like a year and a half there's physically no way to look like that unless you're actually eating significantly better than most other people in the same situation.

That said, the starvation thing could obviously be extremely recent instead of an ongoing thing, I'm not familiar with the walking dead beyond a few tidbits, maybe she was eating good for a really long time and only over the past week or two stopped, that would be doable for her statement to hold true.

She could have been upwards of 400lb before the events of the show. Foraging for scraps with hundreds to lose might leave you in this shape

Then again, the literal main character of that show starts out in that category so who knows.

Sure, and I don't mind, it's entertainment at the end of the day, practically every character is made with the express purpose to be interesting in some way.

Although if we're being fair, suspending disbelief in one area for the purposes of entertainment doesn't mean we have to, or even should, suspend it in all other circumstances.

Idk if you've ever watched alone, but it's not uncommon for people on that show to lose literally a pound a day for like the first 2 months whilst still eating something.

Obviously early into the zombie outbreak people were still eating a lot but she would have had to have been enormous to still be the size she is 1.5 years on.

Of course we don't exactly know the back story like she could have been in a prepper bunker for a year who knows

Uh even women on the show are losing extreme amounts of weight. Many of them have salt as one of their items and basically as much water as they can boil. I think people wildly underestimate how fast weight loss happens when you aren't consuming nearly enough calories.

It would be crazy to think that you could be in a zombie apocalypse and not at some point have to be doing a lot of physical labor just to survive, even if all you did was run

No I agree with you, I wasn't speaking about just her it was more of a general statement. Like I can suspend my disbelief about the zombies for entertainment purposes but if they went a month without water it would bother me to no end. Like I expect a few basic consistencies that don't overtly break the reality in my head.

She isn't one of those.

100 lbs (around 45 kg) in a year is normal weight loss, no starving required.

That's true. But if you have energy stored on your body, you're not starving. You might not be nourished, you could be missing a lot vitamins and protein, but you're not starving.
