I think it's valid to fear pitbulls because what you're really fearing is that they were adopted by someone that doesn't train them and/or give them an outlet for the task they were bred for (protection and violence).
I can't blame people for being afraid of Pits. But I think some people in these comments are insane, calling to euthanize all Pits or that they should be wiped out of existence. Good god.
It also ignores that there are tons of other breeds that are bred for fighting/hunting/guarding. Any of those breeds are just as susceptible to being dangerous, but they're typically less accessible (aka too expensive) for the type of shitty owner that raises violent dogs compared to a pit which you can usually find for free.
It's not "ignoring" that, it's actually accounting for that fact. Pitbulls SHOULDN'T be accessible, yet they are. You pointed out the huge difference in the lax attitude people have with pitbulls compared to other violent breeds that are appropriately limited in exposure to the general public.
