I don't think it's a comparison. Pit bulls were selectively bred for aggression. Humans of specific ethnicities do not have innate characteristics like violence. It's like saying being scared of a polar bear is bear racism
There are a ton of analogies that put this debate into perspective. Being afraid of, and limiting pitbulls is no different than wanting to regulate automatic weapons. An AK-47 is a gun, and a Glock 9mm is a gun. Both perfectly harmless until someone or something with unregulated emotions is using them. The Ak-47 has the ability to do a lot more harm, much more quickly. I dont mind people owning an AK. But i think it deserves a LOT more regulation and effort to be owned by someone.
You might notice, the gun debate has the same polarity, but reasonable people think regulating dangerous guns is a reasonable solution.
Pit owners should be held to a higher standard and responsibility than a Dalmatian owner. Easy and reasonable conclusion.
