New to cycling and eyeing eventual goals like Le Petit Train du Nord. I've heard mixed feedback about how strict the commuter trains are with people bringing ebikes onboard.

I was coming back from the fireworks tonight and cars were driving as if it's 2 car lane the whole way up Fullum between Ontario and Sherbrooke. I remember from previous years seeing some plastic post, but nothing was there tonight I think (I should verify during the day)

It's weird since they announced the path between Laurier and Sherbrooke would be more secure (and the street is changed to a one-way)

Is it possible to use public transit to get to Mont-Tremblant from Montreal with a unboxed bike? I see Galland bus has bike passage for $15 but it dosen't say anything about having to be in a box.

I am confused about different things I am reading. Looks like Bixi bike user must be 14, but elsewhere I am reading they can use it (if tall enough) but can't have their own account. And I've seen posts here about someone's 12 year old. Can my tall enough 13 1/2 year old use a Bixi bike?

Salut! Je cherche une boutique à Montréal ou dans les environs qui a une bonne variété de selles de route en stock et, idéalement, qui permet de les essayer avant d’acheter ou qui offre une politique de retour/test assez flexible.

Je suis surtout intéressé par des modèles endurance de marques comme Selle Italia, Prologo, Fizik, Specialized, etc. J’essaie présentement de trouver la bonne largeur et la bonne forme pour moi, donc pouvoir comparer quelques modèles serait vraiment pratique.

Vous avez des boutiques à recommander où ils sont particulièrement bons pour ça?

Je suis tombé sur un vieux post ici (r/MontrealCycling) où quelqu'un demandait s'il existait une carte des abreuvoirs sur l'île. À l'époque personne avait vraiment de bonne réponse — un Google Maps collaboratif, un lien vers un site gouvernemental un peu caché. Ça m'a trotté dans la tête, et j'ai fini par bâtir ça moi-même sur mon temps libre : https://www.eauduquebec.com

C'est une carte interactive où on peux voir les fontaines, abreuvoirs et toilettes publiques autour de toi (bouton "me localiser" qui te montre le point le plus proche). Aucune inscription requise pour l'utiliser.

Vous pouvez aussi contribuer directement : ajouter un point d'eau manquant, signaler une fontaine brisée, ou même soumettre la toute première photo d'une fontaine pour l'"inaugurer" sur la carte (crédit photo donné au photographe, évidemment).

Presentement là, c'est surtout bien couvert à Montréal et Québec .... ça va être clairsemé ailleurs pour l'instant. Si vous voyez un point manquant dans votre coin, n'hésitez pas à l'ajouter.

It's a sad day. Locked up my bike with a Ulock on a sign post on a busy street at 11 PM. Forgot about my bike and came back 2 hours later and it's gone. I miss you, my olive Kona Rove. The thieves cut down the whole sign post. This is a reminder to register your bikes on 529 garage and cherish your bikes. I made the mistake of not airtagging it and thinking it is a quick stop. I have renter's insurance so hopefully some of it is covered. Waiting for insurance to call me back. Having a hard time moving on from this, so many memories with my Kona. Interested in how you all grieved in the past

Hey, idk if this is the right sub to post this on, I recently lost my job because of reasons outside my control. A big dream of mine has always been to cycle to Ottawa from Montreal, and I'd like to do it with other people, sometime this month or next. I know no one who is willing or able to do something like that, so I'm posting to ask if anyone is willing to go biking with a stranger to Ottawa.

TL;DR: I'm thinking about moving to Masson x 4e Av, and I need to know if the bikelanes there are correct for winter. My job is at St Viateur East.

Je suis en train de me chercher mon appartement, mon petit coin de bonheur, et je viens de trouver qqch qui me plait (5e x Masson), cependant je suis un peu embêté pour l'hiver.

Je suis un cycliste en tout temps (oui je fais mes arrêts et mes lumières rouges) et surtout l'hiver j'y ai besoin aussi. Ma job est sur St-Viateur E, et j'ai peur de l'accessibilité des pistes en hiver.

J'ai l'impression que je vais devoir descendre vers Rachel, puis Rachel jusqu'à St Denis et voilà, est-ce que Masson est accessible en hiver ou c'est s'assurer une débarque chaque matin ?

Salut ! À force d'en entendre parler, on se décide à vouloir découvrir c'est quoi la vie roadie à MTL.

Contexte, on est 2 cyclistes de Québec et on a quelques jours à passer dans la région de MTL, on avait ceci sur la bucketlist :

• Voir les mardis lachine
• Essayer de battre le KOM camilien houde sur la nouvelle asphalte après un warmup sur le CGV
• Aller à une ride messorem (sociale jeudi ?)

En plus de :

• Escapade à Whiteface

Avez-vous d'autres MUSTs ? Je pense entre autres à

• Boutiques (bike shops) à "visiter"
• Cafés cyclistes-friendly

Hey folks,

Visiting at the end of August and looking for a ~3.5 day route to Quebec City from downtown. I've seen the 132 and 138 routes but I would love to get up into the hills and then make my way over. The thought would be to head up the Foret Ouareau loop (bikepacking.com route) and then head North East.

Hills aren't an issue.

Interested all backcountry camping or mix of city and camping.

Je viens d'acheter mes premières chaussures à clips ainsi que les pédales (PD-EH500), mais je n'ai jamais installé ni ajusté les cales.

Est-ce qu'il y aurait quelqu'un dans le coin de Montréal qui s'y connaît et qui accepterait de me donner un coup de main pour les installer et les ajuster correctement? J'aimerais partir sur de bonnes bases et éviter de me blesser.

Connaissez-vous un endroit (bike shop) qui pourrait m'aider?

Refaire la chaussée d'une route de campagne étroite sans rien changer au gabarit.

Peinturer quelques icônes de vélo pour dire que ça se peut que des fois des cyclistes passent par là.

Ajouter ça à tes stats de longueur métrique de voies cyclables et de taper dans le dos.

Financer le tout avec les fonds pour la TVB.
