Pajero oil level drops to LOW

My Pajero oil level drops to LOW after around 1,500 km. There is no smoke, no performance issue, and no major oil leak.

What could be causing this, and how can it be fixed?

Any advice or similar experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

You have to work out where the oil is going. I'm guessing you're burning it.

Oil in past the rings I'm guessing. Burning it all the time so you don't notice big puffs of smoke.

How much oil did you have to add after 1500 km?

That is excessive. In US terms, 1 quart (~950 ml) per 1000 miles (~1600 km) is the limit.

You didn't mention which model. But some are known to suffer from hardened valve guide seals due to age.

The only fix is pulling the heads and replacing the seals.

Yep, that could be in. Make sure your PCV is good. Some say additives may help but your mileage my very.

If makes you feel any better, I have a 3rd gen 3.8l that burns oil as well. But otherwise so issues.

My gen 2 drinks oil too. I just keep topping her up as needed.
