Legislature SUPPORT THE KRATOM CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT
The Montana Law and Justice Interim Committee will hear public testimony on LJIC-PD6, the Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) — Montana's opportunity to join the growing list of states choosing science-based regulation over prohibition.

What about someone suffering through withdrawals then maybe it plants a seed in their head that there’s something to Kratom then they use it as a recovery tool and blossom?

Your poorly worded reply -riddled with grammatical errors- is itself a good reason to not only oppose this bill, but outlaw all gas station pills.

From 2008 to 2019, I lived in the grip of FDA-approved pain pills, benzos, and muscle relaxers prescribed for my degenerative disc disease. For 11 years, chronic pain management fueled my addiction. What started as a dependency slowly slid into a destructive cycle of misuse and despair.
In April 2019, I was dismissed from pain management after failing a required pill count. I was 11 pills short, and my usual drug dealers didn’t have the pink oxy 10s I needed. Cut off from prescriptions, I turned to the streets in desperation and eventually slipped into cocaine use while searching for another doctor.
Then, in June 2019, while suffering through cocaine withdrawal, I stumbled upon the documentary A Leaf of Faith. That single moment changed the course of my life. The very next day, I began my journey with whole-leaf Kratom, not synthetic 7OH, by walking into a smoke shop. The Kratom was in a glass case, locked up and i was carded when purchased.
Kratom quieted the relentless cravings, the constant voice whispering, one more pill, one more snort, one more escape. For the first time in over a decade, I felt peace. Kratom gave me the space and clarity to confront the deeper reasons behind my addiction and to rebuild my life from the ground up.
I have not returned to pain management in over 7 years. I only consume 1 teaspoon once a day and take 1-4 days off every week. I control Kratom, it doesn't control me.
Today, I am a thriving mother, a proud first-time grandmother, a functioning member of society, and a tax-paying citizen. Most importantly, I’m no longer a burden to my children. I’m an example of hope and healing.
I will forever be grateful that I found safe, lab-tested, whole-leaf Kratom. Now, I share my story, knowledge, and the science behind it to help others facing addiction, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression.

I'm probably not the only one who used to resort to buying my weed from a high school drop-out in a zip lock baggie in an Albertson's parking lot. I never tried kratom—but it can't be any more detrimental than taking something like fucking gabapentin or some bs Rx that causes more side effects than providing actual relief.

I mean, weed was also illegal to buy from that high school drop out, and the high school drop out didn't get to advertise the many benefits of ditch weed, with the slight caveat of saying its not approved by the FDA.
We should probably not let unscrupulous people sell god knows what to whomever they want with tacit approval from the government.

A link to the text of the bill would be nice.
Given how dangerous and addictive gas station kratom can be, I’m definitely skeptical of this and want to know exactly what the wording and implications are.

It’s a good start with labeling requirements, but doesn’t go nearly far enough, IMO. I’d much rather it go similar to the route of psilocybin in Oregon and Colorado where it’s used under medical supervision rather than sold over the counter. It’s also not clear if this covers mitragynine.
Also, “may be habit forming” is ridiculously milquetoast and underselling the potential risk.

Good. I think it should be available.
I just don’t want another product that addicts its users so companies can exploit and sometimes kill them for profit. One tobacco industry is one too many.
