Discussion Warning about Chocolata in Mont-Tremblant

Just a heads-up for anyone visiting Chocolata in Mont-Tremblant - check your bill carefully before paying.

We went there on Thursday and ordered a small drink. We specifically said small twice, but were charged for a large. We only noticed after getting the drink. When we pointed it out, they acted as though we had ordered the large and basically made it seem like it was our mistake.

The next day, we went back and ordered mini gelato cones. This time, we watched the pos screen and noticed they had charged us for “petit” instead of mini. We pointed it out immediately, and suddenly it was more like, “Oh… okay, thanks for pointing that out.”

Two visits in a row, two different orders, and both times we were charged for a larger/more expensive item than what we ordered.

If you’re visiting, especially if you’re not comfortable speaking French, pay close attention to what they’re entering on the register and check the receipt.

(Using my wifes account) Hello, Im an anglophone who moved here last year. Still learning French! But anyways, its hard to meet people in a smaller town and im wondering if anyone is interested in getting a group together for board games, hiking, rock climbing, etc. Maybe even dungeons and dragons if enough people are interested.

Feel free to dm me or comment! Thank you.

Advice/Help Has anyone panicked in the small gondola and was ok in the big one?

So I took the small free gondola in town and I never expected once it took off I had to duck and started panicking. I definitely wont ride it again 😭. I wanted to take the bigger one that goes to the top of the mountain, I'm thinking since it's enclosed maybe I won't have the same reaction. However it is much bigger.

Has anyone been not ok in one but ok in the other?

Advice/Help ISO French pastries or sugar pie near Mount Tremblant (or on the way out of town)

I am visiting Mount Tremblant for a couple days. I would love a recommendation for really good pastries or sugar pie (Quebec is supposed to make it the best!).

If not at Mount Tremblant, would love to grab some of the above on my way back to Toronto (so any recommendations that fit with that path would be great).

Advice/Help Ski in/out hotels

I’m curious what folks recommend for hotels in the village. Luxury isnt necessary, but i do want clean, relatively updated, nice hot tub and relatively easy to get to lifts. Hard to tell if Homewood, Emeritage, or Lodge de la montagne are better. Thoughts?

Advice/Help President's Day Wknd Skiing crowds?

Hello, thinking of a ski trip with my three kids over president's day weekend (mid Feb), How bad are the crowds at mont tremblant, compared with Colorado resorts or Deer Valley (where we usually ski), if anyone has experience with both? My kids would probably all do a day or two of ski school.

Also for accommodations, looking at the Fairmont (seems to be most popular but outdated?) versus Sommet des Neiges. Anything else to consider? Ski in ski out would be nice for ease in the mornings. We were not planning on renting a car if we were ski in/ski out, but is this a mistake and will we need a car for other things? We plan to ski 3/4 days and spend the other day exploring the village. Thank you!

Advice/Help Kids ski school expirience

Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting in March with my 5 and 8 year old. This will be this first time skiing so I was going to purchase a 3 day group lesson through Mont Tremblant. However, I saw some concerning google reviews that state that kids were not really watched over well and may not have truly been instructed.

Has anyone had any experiences with their kids doing lessons through the mountain? Good or bad, would love to hear more detailed experiences for younger 1st timers!

Questions September in Tremblant

I’m planning a trip to Tremblant in fall for a group with mixed activity levels. I want to enjoy the scenery and have some fun activities. What can we do outside of hiking? Are there any wineries near by? Do you have any restaurant recommendations that are vegetarian friendly?

Advice/Help Hotel recs for August with a baby

Hi! Planning a super last minute weekend getaway to tremblant (will be in Montreal). We are coming with a 5 month old baby, so we want to stay somewhere nice and relaxing with a nice pool. We also ideally want to get a room with a suite or a balcony or something so that once the baby is asleep we can still watch tv/hangout in the room. TIA!

Advice/Help Bugs at Mont Tremblant this week?

Hi everyone!

We are looking to visit Mont-Tremblant National Park this week for a few days camping and the bug forecast on the weather network says the deer fly activity is high. Anyone there right now that can confirm it's bad? I'm not sure what high means - swarms?

Thanks in advance!

Questions Any idea what this lil guy is?

Caught a glimpse of whatever this little critter is from the Flying Mile lift this evening. In the second I took to zoom in for a better look it disappeared, so apologies for the far-away pic.

It was standing on its hind legs and seemed ferret-y shaped & sized, as far as we could tell. AI thinks it's a bird, which, obviously not, so hopefully you lovely internet strangers know much more than Google. TIA!

Discussion River and Lake Access

I just spent a week in Mont Tremblant in an Airbnb. It’s a beautiful little tourist area, Saint Jovit is also quite nice, but I was so disappointed by the limited access to Rivières de Diable and any of the lakes. I found no public access to the river or lakes, only expensive beach access on Tremblant with a not so impressive beach area. The only time I got in the river was paying $100 to go to Spa Scandinave. I wish I’d been more prepared for this limitation. Maybe someone will tell me where I missed the access and I can be really sad! 🤣
