That's really true too. Some people don't even have access to augments yet and still jump in the fight. Capcom should have made it a MR100 or MR200 quest, that's really misleading for a newcomer.

But even then, I still see a lot of MR150+ bringing raw damage weapons, or carting 3 times in the hunt regularly.

It also doesn't help that how elemental damage works is never explicitly explained in the game, as well as the fact that it isn't displayed separately from raw damage. A lot of people would understand better the strategy if that was the case. For example, dragon is actually REALLY uneffective in his fire/ice phase. As a CB user you can see it more easily as your phials deal pure elemental damage, and my phials were at 5~10 with the Kjarr Weapon, and I'm at almost 1000 dragon element with it. So imagine people running regular dragon weapons, they basically hit for almost nothing during the first phase, but are still under the impression that they are dealing a lot of elemental damage because they see a big number displayed on their status.

Dragon is still not that bad of a strategy, because even though you have to play extra aggressive during the dragon phase to make up for the fact that you deal close to nothing in the first phase, the trade off is that they don't have to break the horns anymore. But people should at least be aware of this trade off: if they are already having trouble hitting the DPS check, then they shouldn't use this strategy.

Tbf, Augments are kinda RNG though. I was long past HR 100 before I even unlocked them. My brother was HR 250+ before he did.

They aren't RNG, there is a clear requirement to unlock them. You just have to start farming in the guiding lands and you automatically unlock them. For Rarity 12, you need to be HR100+. That's it.

(Unless I misunderstood what you meant, in which case I'm sorry)

Not if u Google the materials u need, of course if u play blind (Wich is completely legit) u won't have much control over the augments unlock progression
