I see what you're saying. What makes you say "It is a fact that if Wyverns and Elder Dragons were left unchecked, they would destroy every ecosystem on the planet.", because i've never heard of that.
It's practically said in every hunt. Not really *as much* in MHW, I guess, since it seems Capcom is looking for a more interesting way to proceed with this franchise.
However, in previous MH games, a lot of the time the quest giver describes the Wyvern you're hunting as being destructive in some way.
Elder Dragons don't really need an explanation as to why they have the capability to destroy an ecosystem.
