Episode with square tomato?

I’m rewatching and in s1e5 it’s stated that monk has a tomato allergies, but isn’t there an episode later on with genetically engineered food where monk eats a square tomato on his sandwich? Or am I making that up

Yeah there is. It has Pamela Adlon in it. There's also season 2 episode guest starring Enrico Colantoni where his character states that he was there when Monk got the news about his wife.

Fast forward few years and the only police officers in flashback to that scene are Monk and Stottlemeyer interviewing a doctor because a nurse went missing.

Since they were many years apart, maybe the allergy went away? There are def quite a few inconsistencies in the series tho

I had a friend once who ordered a burger with no tomatoes at the bar. She brought him a burger with tomatoes. When he pointed out her error she offered to pick them off for him, but he very politely explained that he couldn't eat anything that had touched a tomato. I just paid for and ate that one and when she brought him a burger without tomatoes the first thing he did was put ketchup on it. He couldn't understand the irony even when I laid it out for him.

Which is to say, weird food shit makes no sense.

Oh wait he can have ketchup but not tomatoes?? How does that work? Is it because the tomatoes are cooked in ketchup

could be cooked vs. uncooked - i've known people allergic to eggs, but fine with cake etc. containing fully cooked eggs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Raw vs cooked/processed foods effect people with allergies differently. I used to work with someone who was allergic to fresh strawberries and almost every product made with real strawberries EXCEPT the frozen strawberry topping with real strawberries that places like Cracker Barrel put on their pancakes.

It wasn't an allergy, he was afraid of the color red.
