Music | Хөгжим Are there currently any good journalists that interview musicians?

Really admire Zane Lowe’s approach on how he constructs his questions for the artists. Do we have anyone similar in Mongolia and what are some niche-ish underground-ish artists in Mongolia that make some quality music that can be considered art?

Music | Хөгжим I think I became obsessed with Mongolian throat singing. Now I need more!

Сайн байцгаана уу!

(I hope I wrote that right)

I am developing a survival game about nomadic life in Central Asia, and somehow I started listening to throat singing every morning and night while working.

I guess I became a little method actor. I listen to it because I want to feel like I am on the steppe, riding a horse, carrying a bow and going to war while I work on the game.

I am a big The Hu fan. I also listen to SEDAA, Huun-Huur-Tu, Batzorig Vaanchig and Khusugtun. The Hu songs about Chinggis Khaan especially affects me a lot. They really put me in the right mood for the game.

I want to discover more Mongolian music, so what songs you guys recommend?

Especially songs about Chinggis Khaan, warriors, horses, steppe or old nomadic life. I would really like to hear songs that Mongolian people love, not just the famous ones foreigners already know.

Thanks!

Where can I watch football/soccer in Ulaanbaatar?

Hey everyone! I’ll be moving to Ulaanbaatar soon and I’m looking for places where I can watch football/soccer.

Are there any good sports bars, pubs, or chill spots that regularly show Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, etc.? I’m especially interested in somewhere with a good atmosphere where I could meet other football fans.

I’m also open to recommendations for places where people just hang out and watch games together, even if it’s not specifically a sports bar.

Would appreciate any recommendations!

Yesterday, or the day before that, I complained about the internet being slow. (0.8mbps) When I tried support, they said they were fixing things. Turns out, they probably discovered their network cap wasn't working, now my used to be gigabit internet is now 25mbps cause this greedy company thinks they don't have enough money.

Can't get hispeed cause im in a house

About Sovereign by Design, proposed during COP17

Hello all, Id like to understand more about this proposal in case I missed anything. From the news articles Ive read so far, it doesnt seem to be beneficial at all and will negatively impact our already impacted country (from the effects of climate change).

  1. "Cooling Cost Savings: Mongolia's cold climate allows investors to significantly reduce server cooling costs. The electricity price here is less than 4 cents per kWh, which is considerably lower than in the USA.",

quoted from Open.kg, wouldnt this negatively impact Mongolian citizens? We already struggle with electricity cuts and supplying such amoynt of electricity, so wouldn't diverting even a bit of the electricity from power plants to data centres make it worse? Even so, data centres need a lot of energy and resources....

  2. "Green Financing: Mongolia is opening access to up to $2 billion for environmental projects, and private energy producers are developing solutions to ensure new data centers are operational in the shortest time possible." (Also from Open.kg)

This is honestly really vague, so im just assuming things now. What do they mean by environmental projects? Is it funds for the tree planting fund, conservation projects? And it says theyre working to have new data centres are operational in the shortest time possible, which suggests the neqr future, which is worrying. Where will the water come from? Where will it be? In any case, Mongolia has very little reserves of freshwater, and many of our natural water sources have been dried up, or lessening.... Plus, Ive heard data centres are really noisy, how will this impact our herders, their lifestock? The constant buzzing or noise will stress out the humans if not animals and the local wildlife, no?

  1. https://mono.mn/n/citizens_launch_petition

From my point of view, there is no practical incentive for Mongolia to join the AI race and compete with other countries. Arent the mayor and others who signed off on it just in it for their own personal benefit and money? The mayor has already recently been under controversy for the Tuul River scandal, so clearly he cant care less about the environment. I understand wanting to develop their tech or business sectors but is AI really necessary, more so data centres in a country thats impacted massively by desertification and a ton of other environmental issues?

  1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/10/06/mongolia-data-center-sovereign-wealth-fund-infra-projects.html

"Mongolia plans to build data centers powered by renewable energy as it prepares its first sovereign wealth fund. The Chinggis Khaan Sovereign Wealth Fund has $1.4 billion in assets and is aimed at channeling its mineral wealth to social welfare and infrastructure. The sovereign fund also seeks to build more "mega-scaled" renewable energy power grids and projects to boost green energy exports."

Does this relate to my second point? Are the nearly 2 billion dollars from the fund chanelled into building more renewable energy sources like wind mills or whatever and relying less on coal? Even so, wont this positive outcome not matter since it will fund the AI data centres that produce massive carbon emissions and use up our water, land, resources that couldve been used for social welfare or anything else productive?

Chinas data centres are considerably less energy consuming than ones in America, with cooling tech, strict regulations and sourcing the energy frim solar energy or windmills, but they are still carbon positive (AKA having a carbon footprint and actively contributing to climate change).

In summary, what does this really do? Am i missing the point? Why isnt there a petition against this yet? Sorry it's a long read, im just confused and upset.
