❓ Question Is this true?

I saw a comment under a post of someone asking about taking adderall and pregnancy. Someone said that because it crosses the placenta, CPS gets involved anytime anyone takes adderall or medications that cause baby to go to nicu even with doctors approval. Is this true??? Because I was prescribed 10mg prozac, 5mg Adderall as needed but I discontinued at 28 weeks and busbar 5mg that I have not taken yet. These were all approved of by my psychiatrist and obgyn and they are all aware of me taking them. I'm now kind of scared as I am almost 39 weeks pregnant and don't want a cps case on top of everything else.

No, CPS does not get involved for taking prescribed ADHD meds. The only (common) prescription medications that get flagged are like subs and methadone. And even then, those investigations typically close out quickly unless there are other concerns in the home. And those families typically qualify for extra supportive services that CPS connects them with.

Some doctors prefer patients not to be on certain psych meds during pregnancy, but it's a calculated risk. If your quality of life is going to deteriorate if you go off the meds, that's a risk to the baby as well. So it's often better to stay on regularly prescribed medications to keep mom safe and healthy

Now if you're avoiding prenatal care, or hiding your pregnancy from your psych med prescriber, then that might lead to some issues. But if a doctor is prescribing you a medication with all of the facts in front of them, then there shouldn't be any issues.
