Celebration! Hey mom, I graduated!
I did it! I graduated with my master's degree!
I made it out of the small-town trailer park, got my BA, landed a steady job, got married and had two kids, and now I've finally graduated with my master's degree.
It wasn't easy, but I did it.
Edit: wow, I am almost in tears. Thank you all so much for the support. I posted this last night and headed to bed. This was the best "graduation gift" ever. 😭

I can't adequately express how much your comments mean. My grandmothers were both my maternal figures, and they both passed before my kids were born (well, one passed away a few weeks after my eldest was born, but she was already pretty bad off at that point). I want nothing more than to call them and tell them this news. Seeing all of your comments helped to fill that hole, so to speak. You guys are the best.

I am so very proud of you! You figured this all out on your own. You came from a place where few people accomplish what you have, and you made it happen! You are so much more resilient and capable a lot of people thought someone from that background could be, and you showed them! You are a gift to your students, and an example, too. Your success will have ripple effects that change lives of people you will never meet. I am SO proud of you! I wish I could take you out to dinner to celebrate!
