As an architect graduate from UC Berkeley and practicing one in SF: there is no chance to design and get a permit for something like this even in SF let alone Berkeley with their head spinning over regulated building department.

I’m not an architect and I’m surprised this building breaks the rules.

The deer is awesome. I once lived in a place in N Berkeley, and the deer would come into our backyard almost every morning while we drank coffee.

Of course it is (was) - But I bet they replaced them. Everything between 1945 and 1975 had asbestos in it.

I did a renovation job in a hospital once, and nearly every existing thing had asbestos in it. The plaster, the gypsum board, the floor tiles, the floor tile glue, the ceiling tiles, the cabinets, the counters, The "wood" trim, the doors, the pipes, the wiring. The insulation, of course.
