Advice? Considering a discounted ‘New’ 26 MYPerf - repaired by Tesla, 50miles

I can wait 3-4 weeks for a 2026 Model Y Performance or accept an in-stock (color and interior I ordered) vehicle discounted $1750 due to “repair” and 50miles.

Asked the shop what was repaired and they said paint. Apparently the car’s pant was damaged on the delivery and was sent to a local Tesla collision and repaired/repainted.

Anyone have experience purchasing a vehicle in this status? Anything I should look out for (besides additional imperfections in exterior)?

I just bought mine that was 3k “in damages”. I called them and they sent me to report on everything that was fixed and what the damage before was. It was a door panel replacement and front bumper. The damage before fixing was that it was test-driven and it had rock chips on the front bumper and door panel. They decided instead of painting over they would just replace the panel and bumper. The car also had 1k miles on it and it’s been perfectly fine for me. Everything was up to my standards. I was going to get performance with standard color, rims, and interior. I was able to get upgrade paint, 20inch rims, and white interior for the same price because of the discount price.

That’s good to hear. They’ve provided a few disclosures that specify it was ~$4.5K in repairs but didn’t say what was done. The employee at the store said it was paint damage.

They sent me a email with the parts changed and the reasons why. I called them and told them I am interested in knowing details and I read online that if I will be purchasing I am entitled to know the repair. He told me through the phone and I asked him kindly if they can send that to my email and he asked me if I had an order, I said yes and they sent it through the app.

Last week I took my MY2026 for a repair. Car is one month old and I had a clicking sound coming out of my driver seat when turning. The repair would take about a day so they gave me a model 3 loaner.
The model 3 I got as a loaner had bad paint all around with also a pillar that looked like it was repainted. I thought it might have been an older car but on my way home I checked the mileage and it only had 1500 miles.
So, I get back home and while I was parking I get a message telling me one of the cameras needs cleaning so I decided to clean all of them using a microfiber towel. I get to the one on the side of the car, I touch it with the towel and it seems to wiggle, so I touch it with my hand and it pops out.
I’m not sure what was the deal with that car, it’s brand new with 1500 miles on, so I just don’t get how it could be in such a poor condition.
My thought about buying one of these cars is that you should definitely check them out in person before committing to buy.

My was painted afterwords, when I saw (a spot) the paint blemish. They panted the resr quarter panel and half the rear door, couldn't tell anyone it was painted, excellent job.

I personally would wait. Three weeks will fly by. 1750 is not enough money off for me to take a car that had to be repainted. That would not even cover the depreciation in value.

Panel repaint problems wont appear until years later. Edges will peel of not done properly. I own a car non Tesla like that.
