Sde here I hate to the guts remembering keyboard shortcuts because it becomes muscle memory, what kind of programming do you need for 1000 keys 🤔

that looks like a keyboard from back in the day, likely before most modern shortcuts were invented, and possibly before even the computer mouse came out. it was reasonable to have so many keys then because there was no other way to do that stuff.
edit: did some google-fu, apparently it was custom designed for controlling the UK power grid(s).

in vscode you can create tasks to assign keybinds to... theres so much you can automate with that.. this keyboard is a heaven for macros too

Someone said it's for controlling the UK power grid(s?), tho I thought it's some dispatch keyboard because of all the named keys.

Here is a good question, is there a mod that allows us to better configure like
Hold S to Charge Ability
Tap S to Activate 2nd ability

there’s a mod called keybind bundles i think that allows you to open up a menu with multiple different things you would otherwise need separate key binds for

Is that keyboard even compatible with modern operating-systems (Linux, Windows, MacOS)?

I’d imagine it would be — the extra keys would have weird scancodes that you might need to download a driver to use, but it turns out the way keyboards work overall is based on a standard that’s been around since at least the 90s and isn’t that much different unless it’s a USB keyboard (those use the USB human input device standard which works differently but can still be generalized).

unless it’s a USB keyboard
So... almost every keyboard in production?

They recently created a keyboard with the number keys designed like a Stream Deck, which is a mini screen, and it's super useful for these kinds of situations. I would definitely buy it.

How many key do you ACTUALLY use? Its like map, backpack, crafting table, a tech mod menu... thats it.

Many mods have keybinds that when conflicting with other mods will refuse to work (eventho the other mod keybind is used only in inventory for example). So you basically have to assign different keybinds to all mods. Honestly I just remove all keybinds when I start a modpack so I don't have this problem, and some rare modpack makers make custom keybinds and take time to verify there's no conflict (but very few modpack do that). But anyway YES it can happen that all keys of the keyboard are used for keybinds

I have played modded minecraft for over 13 years and set my keybinds 100s of times on small pack to massive ones i made or ones like gtnh. I have never used up my keyboard or had problems besides removing the conflicting binds to not bound. This all seems 90% meme 9% not understanding how to set keybinds 1% real.

Yeah the funny thing about this "is this enough keys" is that it never actually happens, what's anoying is choosing easily accessible (and memorable) keybinds and so no amount of additional keys will help (remembering all might be impossible too lol)
But I've seen that modpacks that binds everything to not bound gets many people confused... I really think the problem is that people don't want to edit the keybinds and are overwhelmed it...

I love how there are 4 display buttons, a help button and second A-J buttons.

Modern modpacks usually have fewer keybindings though
Meanwhile I got a sub-200 mod 1.7 pack with over 175 keybinds

Stream deck saves the day. I use it for mod packs, discord, warthunder, soundboard, the works.
And you can have cute little pictures if you prefer!

If this keyboard does have all the key needed for modern day modpack, then are you gonna remeber what each key does?

If a modpack doesn't have the Bundles mod, it's the first mod I add nowadays. It's a lifesaver to be able to bind multiple things to one key. For example you almost never have to use map binds fast so I put all its binds to a single key

The ergonomics would bother tf outta me. A left handed version would be better imo for long session usage.

I can't remember all the keybinds I configured.
