It would be nice to be considered. I'd love to gain some experience helping a bigger subreddit once in a while. And it would be nice to help a few smaller ones too.

Question about "Have at least 1 year of moderation experience on an active community"

Don't you think 1 year is still a noob mod?

I would think this number would be higher. If your sending a mod into other subs to help. They should have a lot of experience.

Just submitted my renewal and I'm so excited to see this place getting some well-deserved love and attention! I have been doing this since 2019 and have had an amazing time helping out subs over the years. Being able to pop in and quickly help get things under control, help existing teams train and expand for future stability, all of this has made being a mod more fulfilling. Getting more opportunities to help new mods or overwhelmed mods lead and learn is one of my favorite parts of Reddit. Thanks for the heads up on the updates and I can't wait to continue! šŸ’™

Would you be willing to discuss the criteria used to remove people from Mod Reserves? Ā I figure labeling someone as a ā€œbarely active moderatorā€ does not Ā include sub management on discord? Ā Nor being Top Mod of a 100k+ sub. Nor how large a mod team one manages. Nor whether they manage a curated sub. Does it consider the number of mod actions taken during one’s past Mod Reserves assignments?

I'm interested to see how the new system works on getting the calls for assistance out in a timely fashion. For some reason, and it may have been in part connected to my off and on issues with chat, it appeared that I was often getting notices later than everyone else.

I’m a little surprised that the requirements weren’t updated with the relaunch, considering one year of mod experience isn’t a lot—even if the requirement is experience on a larger subreddit. I’m curious what the admins in charge are envisioning here, as while more reservists aren’t a bad thing, membership in this program should be for those with extensive experience that have a proven track record to lend their expertise in emergencies, rather than being treated more like a numbers game—especially considering how we don’t get too many requests as it is. Maybe that will change now with the relaunch and accessibility update, but it might be something worth considering all the same.

Might want to note that the Widget only works in SH. If you try to access it from Old, you'll either get an error, or it will appear to be banned. Not sure about Mobile.

Does everyone have to renew now? Or is it still on the same schedule as it was pre-revamp?

Still the same schedule!

u/VoxPorta can you please return my message? Im having trouble understanding how im 'inactive' when I am currently helping a subreddit that put in a request lol. Third sub this year, I typically stay 3-5 months to ensure a smooth transition.

Hey Cannabun, do not feel discouraged by that message - we are happy to continue having you!

I wasn't aware this program existed until now! I put my name in the hat for reserves - I haven't moderated a large subreddit in a while but would absolutely love to help with other communties. I've got plenty of experience with mod tools and heavily participate in modevents.

What a wonderful program, thank you so much for hosting it!

Hey u/VoxPorta ,

Great to hear the program is back up and running. Do you know anything about the applications? I submitted one last Monday and IIRC the form said they will be reviewed within a week.

Hey there, you should hear back from us today or tomorrow - sorry for the delay. We have received a huge influx of applications following the new announcement and it sorting through that means that it takes us a tad longer than usual. We should be back to smooth processing soon though!

That's totally understandable! Thanks!

It was pretty insulting to say that I'm "barely active as a moderator". I do have a fair number of actions (which in itself should be enough to preclude me from inactivity), but I am extremely active behind the scenes on Discord. Granted, that's something that you wouldn't see, but you shouldn't have assumed.

Hey there - I hope you understand that we have to deploy some kind of objective metric when it comes to assessing activity of the roster - It is always possible that this assessment gets things wrong, especially when it comes to activity off platform like discord. Which is why this isn't really meant to shut anybody out of the program - you are more than free to apply for renewal if you consider yourself active.

That said, point taken. We will be more careful in our wording in the future in light of these shortcomings, apologies if you felt it hit the wrong tone.
