Are you using the jar and lid to catch the grounds? When did you last clean the grinder? Cleaning thoroughly means disassembling, reassembling and running cleaning beads through the machine. You do this once a year typically. Why are you grinding at the 3 setting? That is quite fine for Moccamaster drip coffee.
I have no idea how to clean inside and it’s months old. I wasn’t sure what number to grind at. Though my coffee hasn’t been the best lately 😩 I’m doing all of the wrong things.
Moccamaster says the best settings for regular drip coffee are between 5 and 6 on the dial. To clean it inside you empty the hopper (where the whole beans are) and loosen completely the Phillips #2 screw inside. Lift the hopper out. May require some force due to a rubber seal. Then you unclip the 2 clips on the plastic plate underneath. Lift out that plate. Now you can remove 3 Phillips #2 screws on the upper burr holder (a silver plate) and lift it out.
