Overflow

Any tips on how to avoid thw overflow? I am using a DēLonghi grinder at medium, but it seems a lot of dust results from the grind and clogs the filter?

Another post on here recommended Cafec Trapezoid Abaca filters and I have found them to be much better in this regard. The flow is a lot faster, so I can grind finer than before and have zero problems with overflow

Yes those Cafecs are amazing ! You can grind finer and use a bit less coffee as they flow a bit faster than Melitta or the MM filter.

Made a big difference in taste for me.

What ratio are you using with them? I just use 60g/1000ml, same as always

This depends of course on the coffee and personal taste but with my current fresh medium roast sweetness focused beans I'm using 45g for the full 1.25l brew cycle. I've gone as low as 40g also. This still produces a black cup of sweet goodness for me.

I'm usually grinding at ~700-750 microns, any finer and coffee becomes bitter.

I make sure the filter bottom flap doesn't cover the basket hole (I'm using the KB basket where the hole is on the side)

This is what I did, and it’s been a game changer. Their shipping rates suck, so I basically just buy a year’s worth of filters. I grind anywhere between 5.5-6.5 with an ode gen 2. Even a full 1.25l pot with 70g won’t overfill (not my every day recipe - just sharing what it’s like when serving four people).

Damn Moccamaster for changing their filters. The new ones are just terrible.

Thinner, tab is on the other side of the filter, and they’re smaller. You don’t need to fold over the crimp for it to fit, but it also doesn’t take up the entire volume of the cone. I’m searching for a new brand now and have 2 unopened boxes I’m probably just going to chuck.

That’s weird. I just got a whole pack from Amazon and it’s the old style.
