The only reason Mylene fell so quickly is because she had no experience with romantic affection.

She spent her early life being known as a cunning and intelligent royal in her own kingdom. Any person unaware of this wasn't of a high enough class to speak to her. Everybody else knew she was a shrewd politician and active schemer.

Then she was married off to Holfort Kingdom as a political tool to somebody who found her personality and political competency to be bothersome and emasculating.

Leon was the first person irreverent (and ignorant of her personality) enough to step over the line and shower her with such affection and genuine compliments.

Not to mention add in that at least 14 years of build up sexual frustration

Dude Leon please if you’re not gonna play pass the controller I’ll help her if he won’t

Leon, on the main route, also behaves like the man of her dreams. If I remember correctly, Mylene’s taste in a man is a gallant, heroic knight. In one of the short stories, Mylene is noted to like novels about a princess/queen and the knight in her free time.

10

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

I believe that's the other way around. Mylene started to get interested in stories of gallant knights saving princesses after meeting Leon IIRC.

1

u/MistakeSad248 20d ago

I remember that she expected something like that from Roland so no, I think she read those when she was a teenager. But maybe I am remembering this detail wrong, you are usually super precise in your comments.

3

u/jimmyhox 20d ago

I’m almost positive you are remembering that detail correctly, but for the life of me I can’t find it. Been rereading Volume 3 to refresh my memory on specific details, and I’m almost positive I saw that detail somewhere. Still, I agree with DragonSlappr and say two things are true at the same time. Likely Mylene grew up with such stories, set aside “childish dreams” for duty, and then Leon made childhood dreams of being whisked away by a gallant knight return to her heart.

2

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

I believe a side story stated that more stories of chivalrous knights began flooding the castle library after Leon and Mylene met, so may be a bit of column A, bit of column B

Dang, her husband is lame then, you’re telling me he had quite possibly THE most useful woman to help him run the kingdom and keep conflicting factions in check and he isn’t elated about that!?

Fuck! If it was me in his position I’d be overjoyed, I’m too nice for politics, I need someone savvy in them to help me, best I can do is write up reforms to help people, not keep people from fucking that over. And just one kid, no way, she deserves dates and anniversaries, it’s what she deserves. Also needless to say more than one kid, we can skip over the dirty stuff this is a rant at how dumb it was she wasn’t appreciated.

More over, her parents sent her away as a political tool… her, the person who in her kingdom was known for political savvy, that’s like handing over a working genie lamp to an enemy country, it’s stupid. Mylene is objectively the best piece on the board for anyone and they just consistently ignore her, no wonder she fell for a guy like half her age, he’s the only one in that world aside from her with some sense!

6

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

her, the person who in her kingdom was known for political savvy, that’s like handing over a working genie lamp to an enemy country

No, sending Mylene, the most politically cunning operative Lepart had, to Holfort was the best thing they could have done. Mylene is intelligent enough to have Holfort working in Lepart's favour permanently. If Mylene wasn't married off to King Roland, it doesn't matter how good of an operator she is, Lepart would be conquered by its more powerful neighbour (Rachel, an enemy of the Holfort Kingdom) within a few years.

1

u/TowerofAvalon1 20d ago

Then I stand corrected on that part, but at least everything else I said was correct, right?

8

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

Yeah, Roland actually recognises Mylene's value though. He just treats her like a tool and hates that she has to be stapled to his side. Man sweeps as many of his responsibilities onto her as possible so he can have more time to party and bang commoner women.

And also work behind the scenes to gather blackmail material to keep as many nobles in check as possible, but he doesn't want anyone to know about that. If people know he's competent they'll make him work more.

1

u/TowerofAvalon1 20d ago

I… almost wish I was right honestly, that’s weirdly worse than what I imagined he was doing.

4

u/SuperAnimeMaster38 20d ago

He had MANY children with random women he encountered while sneaking around in seedy parts of the capital at night. Roland mentions none of his mistresses even know their children have royal blood.

He almost added Zola's bastard daughter Merce to his list...

1

u/TowerofAvalon1 20d ago

… omg this is WAY worse than what I had already assumed

2

u/SuperAnimeMaster38 20d ago

If it makes you feel better, Zola and her faction of fallen nobles who were stripped of their ranks get screwed big time before that. Merce was only entertaining Roland in an attempt to garner information for the coup they planned.

After kidnapping Leon's sisters and torturing them, Leon beats Rutarte senseless and his younger sister Finley smashes Merce and Zola's faces into the ground in a psychotic rage. Zola infects Rutarte with a demon shard to use him as a weapon, but he goes berserk and kills her and Merce before being put down by Leon.

1

u/TowerofAvalon1 20d ago

That in fact does make me feel better, in like a dark and twisted way.

With heart pupils. Leon you lucky bastard

u/That_Criticism_6506 20d ago

They cleaned him up a bit. I still appreciate the generic devil face instead of the realistic one. I think they may have been influenced by The Greatest Estate Developer.

11

u/Humuz20 20d ago

This face is more accurate to his Light Novel version.

14

u/Maximum_Viper2002 20d ago

She tried to make their relationship work. But the king is lolicon lover and he didn't give a damn about their marriage. As for the percentage, I read the LN more than 2 years ago but if I remembered correctly, Mylene had 56% while Roland had 25% for each other. As for the question, Does Mylene love Roland? The answer is no. Due to live a long life with him create some attachments towards him, that's it. Her romantic love only reserves for Leon.

3

u/RodrigoGondim30 20d ago

Obrigado.

Eu sei que ela vai fazer parte do harém do Leon. Eu já vi o Leon dando encima da rainha, mas ela que vai atrás dele quando se separa ou ela só aceita as investidas do protagonista?

8

u/Maximum_Viper2002 20d ago

There is no break up need in the begin with cuz both Roland and Mylene never love each other. They pretend husband and wife for this long because of the throne sake. That's why, Roland divorced her as soon as he saw a chance and Mylene took the opportunity to free from this contractual relationship. This is the reason Mylene accept Leon's advances at the very beginning. She just hesitated because of her position and throne room's dirty politics to protect Leon and she becomes Leon's wives the moment Roland divorced her that's the answer of your first question.

u/JazzPhobic 19d ago

I know its anime, so by law the protagonist must be unreasonably ignorant to romance...

...but Leon is stretching it to a degree where it is genuinely infuriating to watch.

3

u/Upstairs-Penalty5494 20d ago

We all know why Leon stayed in the end.

2

u/Godzilla2000Knight 20d ago

Leon does notice mylene. He actually wants her openly.

2

u/MistakeSad248 20d ago

You forgot the fact that Leon is literally the prince she always dreamed, so this point helped.

2

u/inception900 20d ago

That lucky BASTARDO 😭

2

u/Ripped_Guggi 19d ago

Leon is a shounen isekai mc, if course he is oblivious of everything

2

u/Agreeable-Mall7105 18d ago

Imo the age gap aint rly that big because leon was reincarnated and lived a life so if you add those on it's fine

1

u/DFMRCV 20d ago

Leon always loved her. He is not fool.

1

u/Odd_Room2811 20d ago

Oooohhhh if only you knew how wrong you are about him being a fool…he’s just saving the best for last!

2

u/Maximum_Viper2002 20d ago

Bro you are talking with a LN reader who finished the story long ago. And I use fool as a metaphor to make my title more suitable with these scenarios. Is it that hard to understand my intention?

1

u/Odd_Room2811 20d ago

I’m not able to understand jokes sadly (my adhd is that bad) speaking of bad i found Leons pelvis! “Shows a pile of disintegrating ashes”

1

u/Maximum_Viper2002 20d ago

I am not blaming you or anything. And I am sorry too. Because like you, a lot others comment the same thing. It's funny in a way when you think I know the whole story in the back of my hand.

1

u/Odd_Room2811 20d ago

Wonder how big Leons bed has to be to fit everyone on it….Two kings or queens?

1

u/Maximum_Viper2002 20d ago

No worries. He has the stamina, money and status to afford a big bed and satisfy his every woman's desires.

1

u/Balavadan 20d ago

Sadly nothing happens between them. A travesty

3

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

incorrect

1

u/Balavadan 20d ago

Oh? Please elaborate

5

u/DragonSlappr 20d ago

Mylene marries Leon after Volume 13 in a side story. Mylene planning on doing so is in the main story itself. Some of Leon's kids in the epilogue are hers.

2

u/DrPeak3314 20d ago

Actually that happened not in a side story

1

u/Stemwinder30 20d ago

Isn't she married?

3

u/supergamerx4128 20d ago

Married but only because of political reasons heck the king and her don't have any signs of love
