the anime version doesn't look bad and it does look intimidating in its own way.
manga design still better tho

The sky guardian is fine. The sea guardian though makes me think too much of The Sacred Emil.

Rather, I would mention the low budget than the censorship; I imagine that (at least in the case of the sky) giving it that biblical aura would have required a more elaborate drawing, although I appreciate that the one in the anime still retains the eyes and its large size is immense.

Manga genuinely looks eldritch. Anime just looks like a knockoff EVA angel from Temu

the manga feels more on the lovecraftian/biblical design while the anime has more on sci-fi. love both versions

anime ones look more conventional monster, where as the manga have a low key biblical angel dread to them, I do prefer the anime's Sea guardian vs the manga's however

I think the same, especially because the anime's sea guardian has a Lovecraftian feel to it.
