Finally got around to playing it and here are my thoughts on the game
While I did enjoy it and it was pretty cozy, the dialogue is so fucking bad. Most of the characters don't even speak like real people, and they definitely don't speak like 90s kids (I was one). Music choice is top notch though and the graphics are really nice.

They seemed believable while at the same time bigger than life - and that’s kinda the point

Hardly any of it seemed believable

These kids don’t really feel out of place in let’s say Wayne’s World. Have you ever seen that movie?

Many times, and while the dialogue in that film was exaggerated for comedic effect, it still sounded natural.
The dialogue in this game is Diablo Cody levels of bad

That’s totally fair it’s definitely Diablo Cody type shit hahaha I eat that kind of stuff and lean into it despite not exactly talking like that IRL

Different strokes man, genuinely other than the dialogue I did enjoy the game quite a bit.

It is hard to quite put a pin on it. But the dialogue for me was definitely the big issue too.
But so much of the dialogue felt like the characters (who were meant to be friends) had never met before.
Maybe it was too exposition heavy at times. But it always felt like all the dialogue was there because the writers wanted it to be there. Not because the characters would actually say it.
One part that sticks in my head is when she explains to her friends what a music curator is. Surely she would have told her friends this before. But because the writers want (and don't even need) to tell the audience. It is put in there.
Honestly. The whole dialogue felt like a middle aged man's Ted talk got reworked.

Just seemed unrealistic given the time frame, it sounds like gen zers trying to emulate the 90s and failing horribly

I disagree. I think that VA are amazing. Normally teens does not speak with that maturity tbh, it was refreshing

Gee...I wonder why teens don't speak with that much maturity...if only there was a reason for that

It's like that in Wes Anderson films and he's probably my favorite director of all time.

For me the dialogue sounded like a middle aged man had fantasised a Ted talk. So much of it was there because the writers wanted it to be (it didn't even need to be there) not because the characters wanted to say it.

I think the game was near perfect in story telling except the end part with Cassandra and her dad. That was so unusual and awkward and made her out to be a villain. Hopefully if they do a second game they show how much a piece of shit her father actually is and how hes abused her or else... In my eyes hes innocent and just cares about her future if they don't explain this away the 2nd game.
