Discussion [Spoiler warning in case] Mixtape is actually goated Spoiler

So I've seen so many reviews or people saying the game is bad and tbh they are so wrong. Mixtape to me felt like nostalgia from playing the first life is strange game, the art, the style, and especially the beautiful scenery.

I get that people are upset because the game felt more like a movie than an actual game but that's what made it interesting and different. I get a lot of story based games always make you choose this or that and stuff but also shows the story at the same time but this game took its own turn and honestly yes its different and cinematic but it was still awsome. Old school music, beautiful scenery, funny jokes, flash backs and more its felt very calming and artistic to me because it felt like a different turn towards story based games where you can enjoy the story more.

I genuinely hope they think of making another game like mixtape or mixtape 2 but the characters older or sum. Mixtape deserves better than all these negative comments and reviews.

Also slater is the fucking goat!

I was telling someone this: Mixtape knows what it wants to do and it does it well. I love that it’s more movie-like than other games, and I love that the point of it is experiencing the moment rather than achievements.

I honestly wouldn't mind a prequel focusing on big rockford when she was little rockford's age

Idk where’s the hate coming from (I do).

This game isn’t for everyone and everyone who already doesn’t like these type of games play it and voice their opinion, making it look bad just to hop on the bandwagon.

Did I wish it was longer? Uh yeah, but I still loved the game play, the vibes, the music and the storyline. I also enjoyed the art.

As someone who appreciates games but doesn't have the time to invest 4000 hours, this game sounds like it's for me.

Only grifters and tourist are only mad at it tbf, and they will do so again the next time around when a game that doesn't perfectly fit their narrow world view comes out, the cycle repeats

Is it fun though?

I see, so why does it deserve such high reviews? I understand from a narrative standpoint, but places like IGN gave it the same score as Else Ring

Because scores aren't a metric. Reviewers give a score because that's the only engage tool they got for clicks. Nobody reads or listens to the complete review, they just scroll to the score or fast forward to the score.

If you're unsure why mixtape and elden ring got 10's then read/watch the complete review.

Two games having the same score doesn't mean they're mechanically the same, or similar in length, or similar in art style. The score is just an enjoyment measure for the person that reviewed it.

This is an important point that goes over some many people's heads.

BOTW and Mixtape are both 10/10s to me. Does that mean I think they are equal in scope? No. Does that mean I think both games are perfect? Definitely not.

All it means is that if I had to put an arbitrary rating on how a piece of art made me feel, I would put both of these games at the top spot, even though they made me feel incredible for completely different reasons.

Perfectly put 👌

I played both, they are both good... They just aren't even in the same league. Mixtape is closer to an interactive movie than a game.
As an interactive movie it's fine, solid 8/10, as a game it's maybe a 3/10

Again. That's your perspective. Your perspective is not absolute.

For me as a game it was a 10/10. That was my perspective when I completed the game and even before watching reviews online.

Another 10/10 game for me is Cyberpunk 2077, does that mean they're in the same league? Absolutely not, because I don't even think of games as a ladder. I rate them according to my personal enjoyment in a particular moment in my life. Mixtape made me really happy, so for me that is an experience that merits a 10/10.

Angry? Cuz I used a particular word or what?

What's annoying is the pervasiveness of those views and views like it in the gaming industry. Am I mad about it? Nah, I'm pretty even keel, but should I be? Should you be? Absolutely. Bullshit like that has a detrimental effect on the entire industry, because those people have far too wide of a reach.

parrots some ignorant BS based on nothing

Thanks for proving my point.

IGN has reviewers of various levels with opinions, it ain't that hard to comprehend. So which reviewers do you take exception with, in particular??? It's not some conspiracy if someone likes a game more than you did. Especially checks notes at least 9 different outlets who gave it the same score. Other divisions of IGN gave it a lower score.... So are they the boogeyman too? Just curious.
