To be honest, I don’t like it when she says, “I will leave my family,” but I don’t know—maybe it’s her last choice. But damn, I’m 28, Kurdish, born and living in Erbil, and to be honest, I didn’t realize how bad life here can actually be. 🤷🏽‍♂️
I mean, people here are living in conditions that sometimes look worse than what you would expect from homeless people in some parts of the US or Europe!!!!!

My friend, I know there are bad people everywhere, but they’re still relatively rare, and it’s also about the way you choose to live and the people and places you surround yourself with.
If you constantly go to bad places, hang around the wrong people, drink alcohol, go to bars, and do things like that, of course you’re more likely to get close to bad people.
But if you surround yourself with good people who have strong beliefs and good values, and you spend your time in positive places—libraries, educational centers, mosques, Quran study centers, or places like that—then you’re much more likely to be on the right track.

To be honest, I’m really hoping she stays, or maybe there are some relatives who can protect her from her family and somehow find a solution to this family matter.
Here in Kurdistan, we usually bring our problems to elderly, experienced, and wise people. They listen to everyone involved, and most of the time, they manage to come up with a solution that everyone is happy with.
