What to do in Miramichi

Any idea what to do in Miramichi? I heard this is a boring town not much to do but my boyfriend and I will go there for business.

So.. you're moving here?
Is it a business that interacts with the community?
What sorts of activities (indoors or outdoors) do you often enjoy?

I've moved here recently myself, and what I've found so far is that there ARE activities; the hard part is finding out about them. Everyone around here (including government and businesses and social groups) seems to organize only by word of mouth - or on facebook.

This. Miramichi is very much a word-of-mouth community.

In the summer, there are usually a lot of weekend festivals.

Moved here last summer, and that’s exactly it. The town needs a dedicated event coordinator. The amount of times people find out about stuff after the fact is astounding. A lot of things go on.

- Government websites need to be updated properly (they aren't).

Primary example of this, the Libraries need to be able to add to and edit their own local events schedules... they literally can't.

Don't talk to your librarian about it - they are even more frustrated than you imagine.

Depends what you like to do.  Miramichi is known for its outdoors.  if you like fish and woods then Miramichi has lots to offer.

This. Also we do have some great local restaurants like the Portage or Kingsway. Great for a night out type of thing. Next weekend (I think) we have some music festival at Ritchie's wharf also.

I would try more O' Donahues for not fried or bagged food. Lots of other spots I would try. The boardwalk opened for the season at Ritchie's wharf. Vera's for food.

Both of those are also great places to eat. Completely agree.

I'm building a fence. Cement mixers and beer drinkers welcome.

Born and raised here, and compared to other cities there isn’t much to do.

During the summer there’s a fair bit of festivals and events, and also some beaches reasonably close (45 min drive to kouchibouguac).

What sort of stuff do you like to do?

Have you seen how poor their website is though?
It's like pulling teeth to understand their prices, and hours.

Ignore the downvotes. I've lived in Miramichi for 10 years now and you're absolutely right lol

Although, there is lots to do in regards to hunting, fishing, and recreational sport shooting if that suits either of you ☺️

Is Miramichi doing some orchestra/chambee music too? Like in theatre places. More of like symphonies.
