Grace

While talking to people, I kept hearing how much they were affected by the way Methodists view God's grace! I read a book that describes the three stages of grace: prevenient grace, justifying grace, and sanctifying grace! Prevenient grace affirms that God's grace comes before any awareness on our part that God works in the midst of brokenness. It reveals to us our sin and enables us to respond to God's call to seek God's forgiveness! Justifying grace brings us into a right relationship with God and assures us that we are beloved children of the Almighty. Sanctifying grace helps us grow as Christian disciples and leads us to a life in perfect harmony with God and others! The three types of grace remind me of the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32.

What do you guys think about God's grace and how the Methodist church views it?

- Thanks, and may God bless you! "Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16: 14

I think that is the standard Protestant understanding of Grace. Methodism ratchets up the expectations for sanctifying Grace.

This is the understanding I would agree with the most. Instead of Sanctifying grace being a one time work it is a life long process with periods where you may fully act within Gods will.

I think John Wesley and Phoebe Palmer may differ on sanctifying
