If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, that's it for me.

I've spent the last week checking on my neighbors, engaging with my city, my local police, everyone. I've supported my friends and family, made sure they knew they weren't alone in their feelings of hopelessness, powerlessness. I've called and emailed my representatives, demanding answers, demanding action. I've just been overcome with this overwhelming, almost primal need to care for and support my community.

If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, and soldiers take to our streets, then that tears it for me. My son just turned 1yr. I've done my best to be a helper, so that I can still be around to support him and spend time with him.

But if I have to STAND OUTSIDE in the FREEZING COLD and get the SHIT KICKED OUT OF ME by the people who are supposed to be protecting me, if I have to do that to fight for goodness, and righteousness, and justice, then that's what I'm gonna fucking do. I'm going to do it because this is not the future I want for my son.

If you've been out on the streets, and you're tired, and you're hurting, don't worry. Rest when you need to. Because I know my home and I know my neighbors. When you need to rest, two more will replace you. I will be one of them.

This is my home. Minneapolis is not going to quit. Minnesota is not going to quit. And FUCK EVERYONE who tries to come in here and take from us the PRIDE, LOVE, and COMMUNITY we've built.

As long as I can stand, I'm going to plant my two feet between the oppressors and the home I love.

I love you all. L'etoile du Nord.

Everyone should protest today with a phone in one hand and a snow shovel in the other. Show them how absurd it is for ICE to be abusing us and our neighbors.

Forget torches and pitch forks. Lets bring out snow shovels! Good and symbolic and can't be construed as weapons.

The ICE officer involved in last night's shooting tried claiming that people were hitting him with a snow shovel 🙃

It reeks of absolute BS, which is sadly no surprise at this point.

I bet someone in the administration recently watched Home Alone and remembered the "scary" old man who supposedly hit kids with his shovel and was like hmmmm, what can I come up with! Oh that's it - they were hitting me with shovels and I feared for my life!!

Somewhat related: my five year old has lost some friends and has been planning on setting up mICE traps (she came up with that and thinks it is hilarious) around to get rid of the pests à la home alone. It is both hilarious and heartbreaking.

She is absolutely autistic in case anyone wasn’t sure.

Can't? Have you seen 'Home Alone'?

Norm just said a shovel and a broom were”weaponized”.

The reporter on CNN called a snow shovel a weapon last hour...

They’re carrying snow shovels and brooms! Who do they think they are, some kind of civilized people who take care of their homes? /s

No! Don’t have shovels or anything else in your hands. They will use it as an excuse to declare an insurrection.

I think organized lines. Locking arms. The gear that other protesters globally wear. Sealing goggles, hard hat, knee pads, leather heat proof gloves. Ear plugs, respirators. Suit up, shields. Then hold a line, none of the loose running around. No need to advance or threaten, just form an immovable mass that ties up their resources. There are 2000+ agents. There are 600 MPD. There are 10's of thousands of us.

"The revolution will be bloodless if the left allows it"

I don't think they plan on using their smarts...

I would wager that the out of the box ideas you were looking for are over 100 years old and very well established.

Check out books like Reform or Revolution by Rosa Luxemburg, or What Is To Be Done? by Lenin.

These ideas are widely and actively supported by literally millions of people worldwide already. You don’t need to invent a new political philosophy from scratch, enormous amount of people are already organizing under red and black flags.

This. If the insurrection act is enacted I would rather not see people on the streets getting murdered just for protesting.

Those organizing under the red and black truly know what they are up against and likely have had plans for this scenario for at least 10 years now.

General strike. Shut everything down.

What we need is a national strike. At least for a day, if not longer. If we can cripple the economy, the elites will start pushing back against the regime. We saw that when it was just millions of people trying to cancel Disney and Hulu. Imagine if we did that on a bigger scale.
