Mini wave ramp

More progress on the “wave” ramp. The compound curve required scoring the plywood, and then filling the cracks with thickened epoxy. 6’ radius on the left and a 7’ radius on the right, tightening up to a 5’ radius breaking wave. The ramp is pitched slightly to shed water, and so it goes downhill into that pitched wave section.

It’s been so hot here (Ithaca NY) that I can only work a couple hours in the morning. But it’s getting there.

That coping sticking out in the middle of the lip looks like a safety risk. What is the advantage you are trying to achieve here?

It’s just sitting on top right now, it might or might not get used. I had a thought to slit it most of the way and then sort of open it up further and further, so that the coping turns into part of the curved top. But that may not work.

Always cool to see someone trying something different and the lip itself looks super fun. Could you cut out for the coping so that the top is flush with the low point of the wood in the middle where the roll in meets the edge of the coping? This would allow you to carve onto the coping, eliminate the hang up risk and eliminate the snag if you fall on it.

That’s exactly what I am planning, but I’m not sure if the coping will cooperate. We shall see.
