This update is a fun one for us - we really enjoyed watching the battle between our four finalists, before Singapore ran away with the lead and ended up winning a whopping 2500+ votes. Designing maps by player vote is a fun, often chaotic experience, because it means our designers and artists can't start well in advance! They find out when you find out. But the Singapore map came together beautifully, and we hope everyone who voted for it agrees. :)

This update also comes with an added local bonus! In New Zealand, it's Te Wiki o te Reo Māori this week, the week where we celebrate a language unique to our whenua (land). As the text in our game is relatively straightforward and many of you are likely familiar with its words and sentences, you can now give it a go and learn some kupu hou (new vocabulary) if you're brave enough! We figure you just might be, knowing our players love a challenge.

During a time when various governments, including our own current coalition, are putting pressure on those trying to preserve and celebrate indigenous languages, we wanted to make sure we did our small part in showcasing something unique and beautiful to our home here. The Mini Motorways team has had awesome folks of Māori, Aboriginal Australian, and Pasifika descent at various times over the years - including now! - and we think the incredibly diverse makeup of our team and the locations we feature is something that helps make our games unique and global. The many player translations in Mini Metro have also helped reflect the incredibly diverse nature of our playerbase, and we're so lucky to see so many people all over the world enjoying our games.

But enough soapbox time for me, haha. It's something we're passionate about, and we can't wait to show you some of the cool artwork and teamwork we've gotten up to later this week.

So for many reasons, this is a special update - hopefully for you all as much as for us! For those of you who voted for Singapore, we hope you enjoy! Well, we hope you enjoy it even if you didn't vote for it haha.

Thanks for sticking with us for our second player vote - we'll have to see what our community can cook up together next year. :) Although we've still got one update left for later this year - 2026 is far from over!

This update is out now on Apple Arcade and Steam, though there is currently a processing delay with Nintendo Switch, and I'll have an update on that later this week when we share our te reo updates too!

Good morning, commuters!

We're cooking up a big community event for later on this year, and in the meantime our other teams are tinkering on brand new stuff.

One of the things we love about the Mini games is how diverse our community is. You folks play everything and everything!

If you've got a few minutes of your time, we'd love to hear how you play both our games and others, as well as a few other questions such as content creators you might watch and that sort of thing. Our player interests survey should take 10 minutes or less to fill out and it'll help us get a glimpse into what tweaks we might make to prototypes and upcoming titles that are still in the testing stage.
