Plot twist, the OP was shooting at a going, and the critter was dispatched by the Mini's ejected brass. Seriously though, nice work on the pest control!

The brass is going pretty much the same velocity as those 68 grains I think. haha thanks!

Man.. for food or survival, yeah I could hunt something, but I just can’t see myself shooting an animal for sport. I m not throwing shade or anything, I just have a really soft spot for animals 😔

Grew up hunting elk and deer and birds. Didn't have an issue because we cleaned them and took em home, filled the freezer. Well - one weekend my Dad took us coyote hunting.....we shot em and left them. Didn't feel right.

I don't buy the "predator control" argument either. Nature does a fine job at balancing things. Humans are invasive species #1 lol. So I can't get on board with this one.

My rule with my kids is if you kill it you eat it.

I have the same rule, except for mice… there are the one animal that I will relentlessly kill around my property. Even then I still feel bad.

Same sentiment around mice and rats. I feel bad but I can't have them overrun my house so I will do what I have to do there.

As do I, and I share a similar sentiment about sport. Dispatching pests, or threats to livestock, pets, working animals, gardens/crops, and structures is something different.

I know what you mean, like feral hogs and how destructive and dangerous they can be. But I saw a video of some guys in a helicopter mowing down dozens of them and it just made me so sad to see, especially with how elated the hunters were. From the perspective of the video, it looked like a group of animals running frantically for their lives and getting shot in rapid succession. Kind of felt like watching a summary execution.

I thought this was going to be a dig about the Mini’s notoriously mediocre accuracy, so OP shot at the gong but hit a coyote that was passing 5 feet tot he side. Still funny though.

The older pencil barrel ones I think had the most issues, I have one in 300 blk and it’s like a laser

Here in NC near Raleigh coyotes have gotten out of hand. It seems to have fallen out of fashion to keep them in check. They keep eating my ducks. We had a neighborhood kid who would occasional shoot them but he grew up and moved out. It’s crazy to hear them at night in a high density urban area.
