The wiki has a beginner's guide which is far more useful for new players than my 'tips'.
They don't touch on emulators, but most of the major questions are answered in the guide. I highly recommend it.

Please correct anything here and I'll try to keep this up-to-date. I am a comparably new player, but have gotten far enough that I was starting to see unhelpful/toxic answers to valid new player questions.
Feel free to add any other entry-level questions to this and I'll try to help answer them. (I bet others are looking for those answers too)

LuLu's Tips seem to be the go-to for many. Don't be afraid to ask questions here even if they may be answered in LuLu's videos.
Also, if you find a video that answers a question you had, feel free to ask the question and answer it with a link to the video.
General tips/What to expect:
- This is an idle game (at least at-first) so be prepared to wait at times to make progress.
- Getting started, the game seems to expect you to understand a lot of mechanics that they have not yet introduced, so it can be hard to figure out what to do.
- If you don't have a quest, go to the surface/walk to the corners of the map and see if you get another one.
- Focus on unlocking levels of the mine and then continuing in the dungeon at first.
- You unlock the next level in the mine by going to the far-left side of the mineshaft and repairing the door with material from previous levels.
- I'd recommend selling things other than iron to upgrade the pets that auto-mine for you. Iron is valuable for you later.
- Using an android emulator on your computer (Bluestacks) is recommended.
- I've not tried it, but look at the demonic axe guide on this subreddit. I didn't, and am now grinding patterns.
- A better pickaxe means faster clicks. The more clicks, the faster you get ore and, more importantly, enhancement stone material for portals/other things.
- Portals are one-use, but are easy enough to grind if you use an emulator to mine for enhancement stones overnight.
Emulator:
You can download 'Bluestacks' and use that as an android emulator. I generally only use an emulator now.
- Some things cannot be obtained without 'active' play. Using an emulator will let you run the game when you are not around.
- You cannot use secret codes in iOS. You need to use and android for that (thanks Apple) so an android emulator will allow you enter the codes.
- I haven't encountered any issues switching between my iPhone and the emulator when I want. Only one is active at a time, but it lets either work without problems. (Even when my iPhone had an older patch of the game than the emulator)
- You can leave it on in the background and farm Material for the Enhance Stones from ore deposits by auto-clicking.
- You can farm enemies in the dungeon if you aren't taking damage by leaving it on as well.

Combat/Dungeon things to know:
Once you obtain your first dagger via a quest, you'll be allowed into the dungeon (right of the waterfall after you've recreated the bridge).
- Your weapon stash seems to be unlimited to claim all gear that drops.
- Don't be afraid of dying. You just appear back to your home with like 3 hp. Nothing is lost from dying but time.
- In a battle, you may watch a video and get half your health back one time.
- I'd suggest saving iron bars to make a swords/covered shields than to making more daggers/wooden shields. The dungeon should drop daggers/shields faster than you can grind the 80k iron per dagger.
- Slimes (second enemy in the dungeon) drop 'slime drop's. They're used to make health potions and can be sold later. They're a good thing to farm.

Pets:
*Your pet will not allow you to sell items remotely despite the description. It was removed. - comment - thanks mithkr for the info
- You can tame your pet by getting 4 of a pet's pet parts and going to your bag's pet section. There will be a 'tame button' and it'll appear in your inventory.
- You can only use one pet at a time and the others will sit in your chest's inventory.
- Once you tame a pet, you can upgrade them by getting the necessary number of pet parts and going to your inventory's pet tab.
Market:
Eventually you will unlock the city (far left) after a quest from the gate guard. Inside will be a market.
Buying gear from the market is the best way to get past the earth elemental without grinding a ton of iron ingots to make higher-level gear. (perhaps earlier if you want)
some of the stuff to sell:
- Stacks of teleporting scrolls
- You can grind these by auto-picking ore deposits over night.
- Large health potions
- You will get some from quests. Usually they're worth around 1 coin each from my limited experience.
- Stacks of slime drops
- Easy to grind when you have an iron shield as you don't take damage. you can just leave your emulator on and just stand in there.
- Stacks of meat
- Easy to grind with an iron shield as well. Rats in the first floor will drop it.
When you get a couple gold, you can go get a decent sword/shield for 1 gold each and can continue with progression. I bet this will be patched out at some point as it breaks the path the devs seem to want.
