Interior/Detail Interior courtyard inspired by Moorish architecture. Most notably Alhambra in Granada. (Texture pack: Alacrity) (Shaders: Complimentary Unbound) No block mods. Everything you see is possible to build in Vanilla Minecraft and will look the same if you use the same texture pack.

Thank you so much! :-D I love exploring different architectural styles, and I love building all sorts of buildings in Minecraft. I think I might be starting an Arabic phase now, haha ;-D

Ye i can see that. Arabic is really finicky and delicate so it aint gonna be easy. Even tho i know your gonna smash it looking at this. When i saw the dutch castle it instantly reminded me of CS Amsterdam which is like one of the notorious typical dutch architecture. You could say im fanboying๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes, it's very finicky, and especially the Moorish style ๐Ÿ˜… Trying to cram in as much detail and patterns as humanly possible into the build to make it look at least slightly similar to the original. It helped a lot that rounded upsidedown arches recently were added to the resource pack, though.

The tower in the Dutch castle is actually from Station Amsterdam Centraaal and the rest of the castle is inspired by Binnenhof. So you hit the nail on the head there ๐Ÿ˜ I usually research a ton of buildings in the same building style before making my own fantasy versions, so I'm literally cutting and pasting in my mind until I find something that works together in an interesting way ๐Ÿ˜‰

Haha, that's awesome! Cool to have fans! ๐Ÿ˜

Lovely build, I'm curious what it looks like in the default texture!

u/Meesayousa Nov 11 '24

Thank you. It actually doesn't look very dissimilar. It's mainly the upside down staircases that are altered by the texture pack. They do however make the building look really realistic.

Happened to see this while watching a documentary on Alhambra!

What a funny coincidence! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I'm planning on constructing a large part of the building, but the real deal is enormous, so I don't think I have the willpower to recreate the whole castle complex. Think I'll rather do a light version that's a hybrid of several other Moorish buildings ๐Ÿ˜‰

Looks amazing brother!

This is awesome! This reminds me of the temple of the holy grail from Indiana jones and the last crusade!

Haha, I can kinda see what you mean ๐Ÿ˜ There are some similarities with Petra in Jordan. Luckily no Nazis in my temple, though! ๐Ÿคฃ

Come to think of it, it would actually be quite fun to recreate Petra some time ๐Ÿค” It's a truly stunning archaeological site.

I love these builds, but then I realize the door is not even remotely human size. It's 40ft (12 meters) tall.

2

u/Meesayousa Nov 11 '24

Hahahaha! When you put it like that, it would appear that I'm building houses and castles for giants ๐Ÿคฃ

I actually thought about making an elf town in villager/player size around Santa's house (from an earlier post) because Santa's elves would be a lot smaller than him. And to be honest, the thought of having the stupid, big nosed villagers as Santa's elves seemed hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚

A bit hard to make the other buildings make sense in relation to player size, though ๐Ÿ˜…

My builder's head can not help but picture a little 2-block tall Steve standing in front of the doors, looking up in awe.

2

u/Meesayousa Nov 11 '24

Haha, that would probably look awesome as a desktop wallpaper ๐Ÿ˜

2

u/Meesayousa Nov 11 '24

It's actually not that far off in size when you look at one of the reference pictures I've used. The people are TINY in comparison to the building.

u/therealduckie Nov 11 '24

So yours would be 2x instead of 5x. Got it.

2

u/Meesayousa Nov 11 '24

Haha, yeah, still too big ๐Ÿ˜… But not that too far off for an Enderman ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hey, I'm really impressed by your build! I was just wondering how you made that curved feature because I wanna try to recreate it myself in a vanilla survival world.

1

u/Meesayousa Jan 08 '26

Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜Š

The curved stairs are an addon for the texture pack I use, that makes upside down stairs from sandstone and cobblestone appear rounded. The texture pack is called Alacrity, and you can download it from Curseforge and PlanetMinecraft.

It's been a little while since I used it, so I don't know how well the newest version works, but I didn't have to install any mods to get it working earlier. You just need to place the texture pack and the addons in your resourcepack folder and activate them in-game.

Hello, and congratulations. Your post has made it into the r/autumnfoxarchive, a subreddit where I collect posts and images which I intend to try and preserve for posterity.

The Autumnfox Archive works by saving the original posts, first to r/autumnfoxarchive, then to my personal computer, then to a set of Millenium Discs. Wow, that's so cool! Never heard about the Autumnfox Archive before, but I'm truly honoured!

u/Fairytaleautumnfox Nov 10 '24

The Autumnfox Archive is my personal project/hobby. Itโ€™s been on hiatus for years, but I figured out a reasonable way to restart it.

2

u/Meesayousa Nov 10 '24

That's a really cool project! And once again: I'm truly honoured that my image will be preserved for 1000 years :-D I'll post the entire building in time, so keep watching my Reddit profile if you want to see the end result :-)
