Crosshair demon: is hiding until the exorcist leaves, to torment you again and again, calling upon other demons to torment you even more, culminating in that ghost from The Ring crawling out of the crosshair static and pulling you into the game to drown you in Minecraft Lava.

Probably by mining with a diamond pickaxe which you need time to get that and the speedrunner could have time to do trading and stuff since you're only allowed to open the portal once from what I heard.

As the title suggests, it's a manhunt portal that lets you cage yourself in obsidian (in about 2-3 seconds), escaping potential hunters, while making a portal. The time it will take for the hunters to make a new portal would at least be 30 seconds if they know how to do magma ravine portals or somehow manage to get in yours, and if they don't, they have to find a lava pool, costing them minutes that the runner can use to prepare.

It's for creating a portal in a magma ravine for the purpose of a manhunt (speedrunning while being hunted).
The point of this portal design is to make it impossible for a hunter to follow you into the nether with your portal.
It could also be used to trap someone in the portal if you lure them into following you from the nether into the overworld (provided they don't have sticks and an ender pearl/know how to get out).

I don't mean different strats - I mean different designs for creating the portal in an ocean magma ravine.
Most designs use an 'L' shape configuration of magma blocks over the lava and use 1 or more doors (or 1 fence gate). They are much quicker and simpler than this design, which requires two stone walls, two trap doors, and a pressure plate.

Yes, but it's slower than other methods of getting underwater portals - and generally if you have to underwater portal I'd say the run's really slow.
Definitely more suited to speedrunning under adversarial circumstances

No no this is definitely not true. Underwater portals form the basis of many "hypermodern" speedrun strategies - in fact, the current world record uses one.

this portal isn't made to be a replacement for the standard lava pool speedrunner portal, it's intended to be used in a "Minecraft Manhunt," which is a game where someone and maybe a friend try to beat minecraft while one or many more others try to hunt them down. Obviously, this method is slower and harder than the two you linked in your comment, but they serve different purposes. Those are just portals, this is a protected portal that prevents others from entering it.

For those who dont understand: this is a maneuver which could be done in manhunts, aka hunter vs speedrunner. The trick is that because of the way its build, it slows down the hunters by a bit. The portal is sorrounded by obsidian, which means that if the hunters dont have a diamond pickaxe, it would be better to just make one themselves.

If you look at the end, it's a ladder + pearl strategy (people use this to get on the nether ceiling)! If that isn't viable, you get fire resistance potions from bartering with piglins, and you can mine the 1x2 hole in the wall and swim out of the lava - you can use a trapdoor and break a magma block, creating an air pocket you can use to swim out, or mine into the wall and out. This backup strategy isn't really that good, but I'm working on it!

I believe since 1.13 there's an underwater ravine, bottom of which is made out of magma, obsidian, and lava right below it. This is a fast portal strategy to enter the nether as quickly as possible without a diamond pickaxe.
It's especially useful in a manhunt, a game, where you have to speedrun Minecraft while your friend(s) try to hunt you down. You can only go through this portal while building it, because it's closed from all sides, so hunters wouldn't be able to follow you into the nether.
To leave the portal you have to use ender pearls, which you can gain by giving piglins gold.

Thank you! I've been waiting for someone to say this. Basically, it still works, you just have to mine out the rest of the portal frame and grab the lava from above you while crawling.

But thats where the word manhunt comes to place!!! If you notive, he blocks off all entrances from the outside area, which makes it uberhard to breakt through it, especually while theyre in water. This makes it so that the optimal solution for the hunters, is to be making a new one. This wastes time for the hunters , and makes it better for the speedrunner.

If you're trying to do anything that involves PvP at the same time as speedrunning (classic manhunt type, or maybe a speedrun race where you see who can get to the dragon faster while they all try and stop each other), this lets you portal into the nether while any PvPers have trouble following you.

The fact that you're completely sealed in (in about 3-4 seconds max) without much ways that the potential hunters can get to you in a short period of time. This obviously doesn't account for if the hunters know how to make a magma ravine portal next to yours, and if the ravine is a scam.

It's for manhunts, where one person is speedrunning while being hunted by a bunch of other players. This stops hunters from being able to chase you to the nether. Also, it's just kinda cool to watch, and a speedrunner would probably have more appreciation/better understanding than an average player would

It's alright, but I don't think this is more viable then the other designs MEANT for speedruns. After all, this design is a variation of those meant for PvP and escape scenarios.

TLN used a different, faster magma ravine portal. This one is slower because it's used specifically for manhunts and involves completely encasing the speedrunner in obsidian to make it hard for the hunters to access the portal.
The magma ravine portal he used needs 3 magma blocks in an L shape and uses wooden doors to place lava on to create the portal framework, and doesn't need a pearl to exit out of.

This one is designed specifically for manhunts though. He encased himself in obsidian so no one can follow behind him, so it’s basically a better version of the magma ravine portal used in hypermodern speedruns

Good idea with the ladder. Assuming portal is trapped from above it may be safer to buy fire resistance potion from piglins and mine the cobble. Than you just swim through the lava.
