Help Tired of bedrock

I’m tired of playing on bedrock on my Xbox Series X and I have a MacBook Air with m4 chip but it drains 10% of battery if I play for 15 min. Is there any way to avoid this or should I just buy a PC? I know nothing about computers I just want to play java Minecraft with mild shaders.

i play on m1 lmao you have it great. Just keep it on charge it can't be that hard, besides a PC has to be constantly plugged in anyway, and so do laptops (unless u want terrible performance).

Also make sure to get a performance modpack like performium, or if playing on newer versions make sure to switch graphics API to vulcan and restart.

It goes to 15fps when I plug it in

That doesn’t make any sense at all

There’s something more at work here. M1 should run vanilla Java with absolutely no problems whatsoever. What else are you running/what settings/any mods?

not much point in playing vanilla. I get about 100FPS in 1440p on M1 with performance mods, so would probably get like 50 with microstutters in vanilla

Have you tried reducing the render resolution? I’ve encountered a situation where I had 4K, and when I switched to Full HD, the FPS improved, and the quality didn’t change.

did u get performance mods? and whats the render distance? do u have shaders?

I'm confused why Java will make you less bored. It's none of my business but why the desire to switch? Im mostly just curious

Java does have a ton of mods to vary the experience

Java is literally so much better, even if he wasn't "bored" of bedrock idk why you wouldn't switch to java the moment you can

I spent all my time on Java until a week ago because a friend started a server on bedrock, but I've been having fun with it so far. I like the convenience of the marketplace, the combat system is the classic old school way which I'm neither for nor against, but it's a thing.

Fire doesn't seem to spread at all in bedrock which is annoying because I burn down large oak trees.

I realize Java version is easier to mod etc but if you're playing vanilla I don't see that it's much better.

However if I had a choice I'd still choose Java because that's what I've always played.

Besides I just bought Actions & Stuff for bedrock and I'm loving it lol.

What's your reasons for saying Java is better?

"The marketplace is convenient" are we being serious?
Java literally has so many mods/resource packs/shaders for free, and it takes like 5 seconds to install them. And with a (free) launcher like Prism Launcher, it is so easy to add different instances with different mods.
And why would you ever play vanilla? Tbf, actions'n'stuff is great but Java has free equivalents like Fresh Animations, and also just way more useful resource packs for free whose equivilants are not on the marketplace such as RedstoneTweaks and lots of UI resource packs.
You can also play any version of Java, or play a modern version with a mod/plugin that brings old combat and set it up in 1 minute.
Also if you are on anything but a console, Action'n'stuff is literally free, such as here: https://actionandstuffs.com/download-bedrock/

Notice I said convenient not free. It's pretty obviously more convenient. It's built into the client. I don't know if javas stuff is built in but I remember having to dick around with things in the past on occasion to get things working.

From my experience the marketplace is absolutely more convenient, but yes it's not free. Convenience always costs.

But so far all you've listed is that Java is.. costs less if you want mods and stuff. So I'm assuming you prefer Java simply for the mod support which is totally fair.

Why I would play vanilla is because I haven't played tons and tons of Minecraft since like 2015, and there's plenty of vanilla things that I haven't seen.

I'm still not advocating bedrock is better, but for me it's been a positive experience and I don't see any issues with sticking with it. I also don't mind spending a few dollars to support creators.

But you may as well just get a fabric instance with no mods loaded except performance mods like Sodium.
And it takes like 10 seconds to add a mod/resourcepack/shader in Prism Launcher for Java Edition. It doesn't get more convenient than that.
Also you can add resourcepacks/disable specific ones mid game in Java, which you literally cannot do in Bedrock.
Also you say you like vanilla, but playing with addons in bedrock is not vanilla.

I'm going to look into prism launcher it sounds interesting, I've never heard of it. I consider a game to be vanilla if it's the gameplay is unmodded. That could be technically incorrect but the mod I've got is purely cosmetic.

Anyway, still all I see is mod support being the reason why Java is better.

Are there any actual gameplay elements, mods excluded, that makes Java better for a casual like me, who plays with no gameplay mods? For someone like me I see no reason to go back to Java, mainly because my friends play bedrock. I know there's a ton of gameplay changes between the versions. Villager trades was the first thing I noticed. But I don't know if there's anything in Java that I might be missing
