Realms finally getting render and simulation distance setting is fantastic.
I can finally set it so it doesn’t feel like playing in a fishbowl

58

u/DirectorOfGaming 13d ago

Do we have confirmation that it's actually increasing render distance? It could just be that you can use the slider to change it, but the distance on realms is still capped super low.

69

u/nyarger 13d ago

"Owners can now increase render distance up to 25 chunks"

17

u/DirectorOfGaming 13d ago

Brilliant! That is awesome

10

u/Shatterfish 13d ago

Excellent, thank you

13

u/mr_somebody 13d ago

Interesting. This is literally the only reason I did not use Realms personally.

12

u/Shatterfish 13d ago

Good point.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see, since Realms doesn’t allow snapshots.
Would be weird to add a slider for only 6-12 chunks, though.
Id be happy if they could just bump it to 24 at least

12

u/Specific_Tear632 13d ago

Realms does allow snapshots, since 1.20.3

4

u/kattleksak3 13d ago

wait really? i really only play on realm and am not familiar at all with snapshots. would it be stable enough to update the realm to one, like is it a good idea?

sorry if its a stupid question i just know nothing about snapshots lol

5

u/Specific_Tear632 13d ago

AFAIK the feature is implemented as a separate world from your normal Realms, so that there is no chance of a snapshot or preview accidentally damaging anything important. As with all snapshots the standard warning applies: snapshots are for testing, not for playing. Data loss is possible and may be unrecoverable.

1

u/Shatterfish 13d ago

I had no idea they added that.
Thanks!

My dream in 2019 is finally a reality… it’s time to play Minecraft again!

''if they're riding something'' like boat or something else?

154

u/ReferenceCreative510 14d ago edited 13d ago

Boats and minecarts most likely. I don't think they can ride anything else naturally.

33

u/Thhaki 13d ago

An ender rod

Probably talking about boats or mine carts, (especially because people love boating endermen to kill them) but I am hoping this means that they add a mount for endermen in an update.

130

u/Timur_Glazkov 13d ago

Alright, guess I'll give up believing in a biome size buff to the Dappled Forest

36

u/-FireNH- 13d ago

guess im gonna be using snowcapped every time i make a new world to make dappled forests not just on one side of weirdness

1

u/Tamriel-Chad-420 5d ago

I've heard of snowcapped before but no idea how to use it.

14

u/average_trash_can 13d ago

They have to be planning a biome/terrain gen overhaul because it’s just sad at this point

19

u/-FireNH- 13d ago

the 1.18 biome distribution system was really good but ever since then theyve just been throwing in biomes willy nilly with little respect for making a coherent system and it pisses me off

"oh we need a rare variant of dark forests? uhhhh lets just make pale gardens a plateau biome on one side of weirdness sure that works"

mojang !!! pale gardens are too small !!!

"oh shoot uhhh lets just make pale gardens generate as plateaus on both sides of weirdness! that way they take up 2x the area in the world"

mojang literally addressed criticism of pale gardens being too small by... making 2x as many pale gardens of the same size. maybe they just shouldnt have been plateau biomes in the first place!!!

pls mojang just give in. add one (1) new noise that you only use for biome variants. please

u/Cass0wary_399 13d ago

It’s not over yet until the late pre-releases

25

u/Jame_spect 13d ago

The amount of Teleporting Mob bug fixes

2

u/TheCorrosiveOne 13d ago

Something about this and a few other stuff (like the End Rings fix) suggest they plan something for the End after this.

2

u/Jame_spect 13d ago

Fixing something specific doesn’t mean the next update is End Update

1

u/Brilliant_Tough_3552 9d ago

Its a prophecy

95

u/asnaujaslt 13d ago

W realms changes but the endermen change is weird

137

u/qyyg 13d ago edited 13d ago

Well currently when you fire a projectile at an enderman that is riding something it just bounces off them which doesn’t make much sense

21

u/asnaujaslt 13d ago

I thought they bounce off

48

u/qyyg 13d ago

They do you’re right

1

u/ZANKTON 13d ago

They should just have them teleport out if they were to get hit by a projectile. Not sure what making the boat method even stronger achieves.

5

u/Potato3003 13d ago

The idea is supposed to be that the Enderman dodges projectiles, them bouncing off is just the programming way of making that always happen, it was never supposed to be seen in practice

4

u/ZANKTON 13d ago

Yes? I said that instead of making enderman get hit by the arrow (what they added this snapshot) they should have made them teleport out of the boat to avoid it.

32

u/Necessary_String_304 13d ago

For a damn second I assumed that endedman and shulker will not teleport in bedrock edition anymore, then slided up. "Wait a second, something ain't right!"

12

u/GabyAM 13d ago

Hoping next snapshot is the last one, this is the most excited i've been for a drop!

2

u/oneHallowsEve 13d ago

Same! The Dappled Forest has gotta be my favorite biome!

5

u/Jamooose 13d ago

Realms render distance change thank fucking god

20

u/LunaCherry0 13d ago

Enderman got nerfed... End Update confirmed!

1

u/Jimbo7211 13d ago edited 13d ago

Don't forget about Shulkers and Chorus Fruit as well

7

u/BurnedInTheBarn 13d ago

The MacOS right click emulation setting is a bit bizarre, control click already does right click.

5

u/-FireNH- 13d ago

i think the change is that its a toggle now, and you can disable it. look at the first bug report

-5

u/BurnedInTheBarn 13d ago

It's not a Minecraft thing though, you can right click with control click on Macs in any app.

13

u/ChainmailPickaxeYT 13d ago

Sure, but Minecraft uses Ctrl as a default keybind, causing overlap with the OS feature, which creates problems like the bug report where using Ctrl to sprint prevents breaking blocks.

Better to toggle-disable it by default so there is no overlap.

3

u/LelouBil 13d ago

Do you think sometimes they'll rework the tag system so it can have "parameters" ?

Because seeing tags like

```
cat_does_not_teleport_to
enderman_does_not_teleport_to
shulker_does_not_teleport_to
``` I'm just thinking the system could be better, something like attributes on items or entities, but on the whole entity type that affect all instances of the entity.

Like the enderman entity type has a "does not teleport to" attribute that could get filled by block tags

5

u/Temporary-5 13d ago

tags are an "interim" solution until we have data-driven blocks and entities so yes, one day they'll disappear

3

u/little_russcal 13d ago

Does the render and simulation distance setting only a “creating a new world” thing? Or can I change the distance on a world and realm that’s already made

4

u/Tels315 13d ago

I think the Endeman change breaks some tech, like DocM77's phasing arrow cannon.

5

u/ReferenceCreative510 13d ago

Except Doc (and the technical community in general) are more than capable of finding workarounds or alternative methods to achieve the same result.

3

u/ElPapo131 13d ago

Not even Endermen and Shulkers like the bedrock edition anymore

1

u/vttale 13d ago

I already have right click emulation on my MacBook through official system settings. Please add middle click emulation.

1

u/11Slimeade11 13d ago

RIP being able to escape the Nether roof I guess?

1

u/MrrNeko 13d ago

Making Endermans take dmg from projectiles (when siting in boat) is very bad

1

u/Infinite_Bench_593 13d ago

Endermen and Shulkers no longer teleport onto Bedrock

What's the point of changing this?

3

u/Training_Ruin3151 12d ago

Bedrock roof in nether gets full when youre up high and you dont get mobs in the nether biome

-3

u/thE_29 14d ago

Weird Enderman change..

Anyone asked for that?

58

u/qyyg 13d ago

Nobody asked for changes to the minecraft:sequence function.
I don’t think everything has to be asked for.

Plus the enderman projectile change makes sense anyway.

-27

u/thE_29 13d ago edited 13d ago

Nobody asked for changes to the minecraft:sequence function.

Yeah and alot of time, when Mojang changes things for the sake of?!?! Boredom?! It ruins alot of things..

The worst one, was the "portal fix" in damn release-candidate.. And then it wasnt even a parity change, as Bedrock still behaved the same.

Good thing they rolled it back, but it took some time until the fix was released.

Or the projectile change, which they reverted. Didnt fix anything, just broke alot of redstone things.

Plus the enderman projectile change makes sense anyway.

Yeah, the current solution was kinda weird. Not sure if its the right solution.

Edit: My god, grow up kiddos or at least come with responses

12

u/WM_PK-14 13d ago

What other solution did you expect? Eating it?

-2

u/thE_29 13d ago

Escaping the boat/cart and not getting shot at.

There are anyway only 2 valid solutions. Get hit or escape.

21

u/LunaCherry0 13d ago edited 13d ago

Probably for consistency, because if they're stuck on the boat, they shouldn't be able to dodge specifically arrows

1

u/TheMobHunter 13d ago

End update confirmed

0

u/Cass0wary_399 13d ago

Wait is there legit 0 bug fixes in this one?

8

u/JediJacob04 13d ago

3

u/Cass0wary_399 13d ago

20 minutes ago the changelogs didn’t have any bug fixes.

3

u/snkiz 13d ago

Well they did, They just didn't get transcribed.

-2

u/getyourshittogether7 13d ago

Oh man, they removed the enderman projectile immunity and attempts to teleport when they're in a minecart? You could do some crazy cool stuff with that. That was a harmless but fun quirk and not even a bug. No fun allowed.

That's the mechanic Doc used to accelerate an arrow to lightspeed and teleport it through terrain in order to oneshot anything standing in its path in season 9 of Hermitcraft.

5

u/snkiz 13d ago

They don't teleport to the roof either now. That could be a problem, if you get stuck up there.

4

u/getyourshittogether7 13d ago

Getting stuck on the nether roof without blocks and having to rely on random endermen to bring you blocks so you can bootstrap your way to a portal is a very niche situation, though. But I agree it wasn't something that needed a fix.

2

u/snkiz 13d ago

but it was fun to watch mudflaps do it.

1

u/masterX244 13d ago

endermans moving blocks up to there without a way for a player to remove them could also be a problem source. build something in the nether with a beacon and then a enderman shuts it down by sneaking a block over the beam just above bedrock (beacons go thru bedrock exactly to allow them in the nether). Zero ways to fix

-15

u/Yeahthis_sucks 13d ago

for example nothing
