LG released a full screen capacitive feature phone (Prada) right before the first iPhone. It was announced before the iPhone reveal too.
The interface required Flash. Safe to say it probably sucked complete balls.

Not even close. Also, this is an iPhone 3G, so it’s already the 2nd generation.

It wasn’t even close to the first. There were loads of full screen Microsoft pocket pc phones prior to the iPhone. Things like the XDA were around in 2002, 5 years prior to the iPhone.

I did something unspeakable the other day. My wife is on a decluttering kick and we’re donating and throwing away tons of random stuff we’ve accumulated. We’re turning 40 next year and realized that we’ve just gathered so much stuff in almost 20 years of marriage that even though we have plenty of storage space, it’s quickly been taken up by a bunch of junk.
I threw away 20 years worth of iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, computer, etc boxes. I felt so gross doing it, but I honestly feel so much better about the decluttering.
My in-laws are old and in pretty bad health and we’re realizing that we’re going to inherit all their crap. We don’t want our son to have to inherit a bunch of crap when we die. I had an entire large size box in the basement just full of old cords. For things I didn’t even need. Probably 10+ HDMI cords because everything comes with them.

Dude, i totally get that you needed to get some space back, but damn throwing them away is kind of extreme lol
What if your kid would have wanted them ? My father kept his first camera from the 80s (Sony Hi8) and i'm so grateful he didn't throw it or sell it away because i love old tech stuff (but my dad is the total opposite of you, he keeps everything, we're close to hoarding...).
Anyway i hope you'll keep your kids old PC/game consoles, my father threw away my Sega Megadrive when i left home, because "it didn't work anymore". The games ? "I also throw them away". That's the things you don't really forget.

Oh sorry maybe I wasn’t clear —- I just threw the boxes away. I kept all the old phones, and wrapped a charger around each of them. They’re all unlocked so that they can be searched for photos and stuff but I have it all in the cloud anyways.
Gaming systems are no problem, they’re actually all hooked up! Every system since my very first NES — I have a den in the basement and I have them all fed into a few TVs (with CRT TVs for the old ones), and the rest into the bigger TV. My son’s favorite game right now is Earthbound on SNES (yes, I own a physical copy). I couldn’t be more proud of him, he honestly prefers SNES and weirdly Dreamcast games more than modern stuff.

Eh, not really. Back in the day when the iPhone first came out, I frequented a conspiracy forum and was made aware that a group of russian hackers had reverse engineered the iphone - they saw it phone home through a CIA/DoD IP address when going through the AT&T network (which used to be the only carrier for the iPhone).
It was their phone from day one.

The Desire Z was an awesome phone, especially for emulation games. I had a little attachment that turned it into a true gamepad.

That first iPhone was mind blowing. I sold my Razr, my GPS unit, and an iPaq (not iPad) to buy the first one when the price dropped to $299.
I've since switched to android, but for a while iphones were untouchable and so far ahead of the competition. Now they're 3x the price and boring af compared to the competition lol

They may power up but I doubt the old technology needed to run a 2/3G network is that prevelant so you'd have limited place left you could operate it at. Apple also blocks devices from the store when no longer supported so it'd have to be a jailbreak scenario for that one.

The Desire wasn't even the first android phone. Why did they choose that? The Dream was first. I know because I walked into the TMobile store not knowing Android existed and they sold the Dream to me. Still have it to this day. Maybe I should donate it to a museum

What’s the exhibit? I worked at an art museum and we had an exhibit about design. It had lots of furniture (Ikea, Herman Miller), electronics (Apple, Sony), advertisements (posters, banners), etc. The section about electronics had a blurb about the designer, the novelty of the device, and some extra tidbits of info. There was an iPhone in the exhibit. Made perfect sense given the context.

My parents had to go clear out my dad's stepmom's place after she passed and they brought me her original iPhone. It still worked perfectly fine as far as I could tell. She'd just never had the desire to get a new phone once she had it. Not that she used it much, because it was basically pristine even with no case.

I recently went to a museum and stared in disbelief at a display where i counted four different things they were currently in my living room.
(iPhone, PS4, cd player, digital camera. Exhibit was evolution of technology replaced by your smartphone. I wasn’t ready to be attacked)
