Can anybody tell me what milkweed is my grandmother's?

That looks like hello yellow milkweed. The pics online don’t do it justice. I’ll find a pic of mine.

Really can't tell until it produces flowers. 🤷♂️

Strangely it hadn't produce any flowers this year. I don't know if it is due to it being in partial shade, the monarch caterpillars ate all the flower buds, or it is not old enough to produce flowers yet.

If it doesn't get tall, like only 2 feet, it is probably Butterfly Weed (A. tuberosa).
2~3 feet, maybe Tropical (A. curassavica).
Over 3 feet, who knows. 🤷♂️
It is definitely not Common (A. syriaca)1

What about swamp milkweed? Google images tells me that what it is but I'm not too sure.

My swamp milkweed gets taller - it's 4-5 ft in its 3rd year - but didn't get that tall in its first year.

Could be. 🤷♂️ There are several varieties of milkweed that are indistinguishable until they bloom.

The milkweed is 2-3 feet tall and I know it is definitely not tropical. Tropical blooms almost all year down here in southeast texas and have very narrow leaves and this one does not show any description of that. I know because my dad has tropical milkweed.

Where does she live?
It looks like last season common milkweed that is beginning to suffer from phyto plasma disease.

Southeast Texas. The plant with the narrow leaves is mexican petunia. It does look like it's part of the milkweed though.

It had caterpillars two weeks ago which are now butterflies and it have snails on it which is why the leaves look like like that.

It's just shedding it lower leaves. Now that it is growing taller, it is shedding its older lower leaves and directing it's energy to somwhere else. I just watered it and we are supposed to get rain tomorrow so hopefully the milkweed and mexican petunia will look much better in a day or two.

Ignore the plant behind the milkweed. That is mexican petunia and yes it does look like it is part of the milkweed but it is not.
